You’ve heard it said before: I’m so hungry I could eat a horse. Of course, it’s just an exaggeration. But you KNOW we couldn’t just leave it at that. Where does the phrase come from? And could you ACTUALLY eat a whole horse? Let’s find out!
*Disclaimer: No horses were harmed in the making of this episode and Theorist does not condone actually eating horses. This episode is for educational purposes only.

The phrase originated to mean a person is so hungry that they could do something so irrational as to eat the animal they are using to travel, because in those times people mainly traveled by horse.

And in the video you wouldn’t have to just talk about chocolate you could talk about all kinds of foods and how they affect women when they’re on their periods and which foods actually help and which ones make the cramps worse also to make it even better, you could have Stephanie guest star in the episode. AFAB here. I think it's more of a craving satisfaction thing, more than a "cure" for period cramps. Because when I get my period, it's usually a nice shower that relieves my pain, not a bar of chocolate. I eat a decent amount of chocolates during my periods, too, but I don't notice any difference.

The only logical reason for that phrase is for the person to have a saddle between horse and them.

Even though Mongolians mainly disregard the idea of eating a horse because traditionally it is our friend and spiritual saviour to Nomadic culture, we do in fact eat Horse meat sometimes. Actually I’ve always wondered why eating horse meat was such a taboo in the Anglo Saxon world. I’m Italian and in the part of Italy in which I was born, the common way to eat it is raw or as a stew. So it’s quite enlightening how, at least in the USA, horse meat was made unsuitable for consumption because they practically poisoned it.

Hi, a german here. I've never seen horsemeat for human consumption, but it's pretty common in pet food. In germany some people breed and raise horses just for them to beeing slaughterd. This way they don't get fed those drugs. Also sometimes old or unwanted hobby-horses get sold to butchers. But only, if they didn't get any of the harmful drugs.

I can assure you Matt, usually we don’t eat horses in Poland. I’d have to do some Internet searching to find where I can buy it

2:57 I assume you're only counting the edible parts? Most horses actually weigh around 1200-1500 pounds...

I was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. For me, horse meat isn't really weird to eat. There are special butchers for it as the circle of customers is fairly small. Especially the older generation ate more of it than we do nowadays.

0:27 The name “Shadowfax” is on the gravestone. That’s Gandalf’s horse in Lord of the Rings. That is INCREDIBLE attention to detail on the editor’s part. I freaking LOVE the Theory Channels!

You NEED to video on how the ocean might be a soup because: 1.Soups can have a water liquid base 2. Some soups have meat in them 3.Some soups have vegetables in them 4. Salt most soups have salt(this would be a very salty soup)

@MatPatGT two theory pitches: Could Violet from Charlie and the chocolate factory have chewed gum for three months straight and would it have been the most economical choice for Charlie’s family to eat cabbage every day. Please I have been worrying about this for years!
