Not that often that we get to see Chris Schiflett's chops really shine through. That boy can play. And btw, I love that the Foos don't feel that every song is a vehicle for a guitar solo. They rule the day with dynamics, melody and complex, layered rhythms between all 3 guitars, bass and drums. Their songs are among the most well-written in rock today.

LudwigSC93 You've never listened to YYZ if you don't see the similarity in the beat. This song uses such a Peart-esque bell pattern for the chorus that I'm wouldn't be surprised if the exact same beat is floating around in a Rush song somewhere
@evankeal
4 жыл бұрын
He is referring to the ride cymbal, found all over Rush songs, and in a recurring part of YYZ. Taylor talks about that ride thing often, as do other drummers. I use it too whenever possible its great. It was conceived first by Peart. Also Subdivisions, Spirit of Radio, Red Barchetta and many others have the exact same bell pattern.

Absolutely devastated to hear about Taylor. I just can’t believe it. RIP to one of the greatest to ever do it. Will be dearly dearly missed. Thoughts and prayers with the whole Foo Fighters family. :(. This gonna sting for a while
I don't think I've ever heard a band sound so good live as much the Foo Fighters do.
Pat at 3:40 so classy!

the ending where it turned all thrash for a few seconds gave me full on goosebumbs. I just started moshing out as soon as taylor switched the beat up so unexpected
2 weeks later I can finally watch this video. Man Taylor...
Drums in the chorus remembers me to yyz so much! awesome!

seriously???...LOL....this isn't even in the same country (let alone ballpark) as YYZ.

LudwigSC93 You've never listened to YYZ if you don't see the similarity in the beat. This song uses such a Peart-esque bell pattern for the chorus that I'm wouldn't be surprised if the exact same beat is floating around in a Rush song somewhere
@evankeal

I'm sixty-two years old, I grew up listening to the Beatles when they were still playing live, I am classically trained in music, and I grew up listening to both Bach and Claude Debussy. And still this live performance blows my mind, ensemble playing at best!

Highly recommend BLINDMELON INTIMATE&INTERACTIVE...one of the greatest live sets top to bottom of all time. Truly a spiritual experience
R.I.P. Taylor! Thank you
Just love the intro . All the riffs Taylor ..Great song and lyrics .. Melody makes you smile
dave is so talented, he can do everything
That ending was terrific. Like holy smokes, I would love to get all crazy if they did that in their concert.
Pat with the rocker dad stage moves
This is the most foo fighters song of all the foo fighters
Taylor moving the mic away from the kit right before he goes ham >>>>
Reminiscent of the Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan... I love it!!!!
taylor hawkens was absolutely badass
Taylor we love you and miss you
Vuela alto Taylor A tocar con los más grandes. Gracias por la música y entrega en la tarima. 😭😭😭😭
💔RIPTaylor It is so hard to believe. You will truly be missed. Thank you for your talent, joy and love of rock and roll. ❤️. Sending love to your family and to your brothers in the foo fighters. ❤️🙏

CHRIS FUCKING SHIFLETT!!!!!
Pat sliding in the shiny shoes. Smoooooth.
Dude his choice of bass in this is hilarious yet fucking awesome with the drum choice. It's like they played rope but in the 70s lol
The Ed Sullivan Show took place in the same studio as the now David Letterman Show Hence the Homage to the greatest rock band of all time The Beatles
I'm gonna miss him. This performance is mind blowing.
Nobody can EVER replace Letterman. That fella is one funny sob. And LONG LIVE THE FOO !!!!!!
Pat is just groovin' the entire time.
The music itself sounds like RUSH in a big way. The Foos are just unbelievably versatile and talented. They've attained that hard to achieve longevity stamp! Way to go Dave and company...you're awesome.
The Foo playing sweet tribute to The Knack. : )
Picture this, if you will... Feb 18, 1998. Auckland Town Hall. The Colour and The Shape Tour. 2 drumsets, side by side. Dave and Taylor, drumming simultaneously during an extended drum 'solo' 14 years later, my mind is still blown. amazing shit.
the live version kicks ASS!!!
First off round of applause to Pat for killing the dance floor 😂 and 2 the drums in this song are sick. The technical level is insane and he just kills it
i love the way they made the new record! it really sounds the same when they play live, that's what makes the foo fighters so awesome, they are like normal people and then they turn into gods as soon as you give them instruments
Gotta love Pat's little smile!
Rest in peace, Taylor 😔⚫

Totally schooling in dynamics. I cannot listen to this song enough! I listen to this and Bridge Burning every morning on the way to work.
God damn this live version is BETTER than the album version!!! That's how music is supposed to be (in my opinion). That change to the ending is so god damn EPIC!!! These guys obviously bust their asses doing the best they can do write great music AND to perform it to the best of their abilities!
Thank you, Taylor.
Neil Peart drum patterns everywhere (and it's awesome!)
pat's dance is a sign he is really enjoying his time with foo hehe
Dave and the band still rock this tune silly...My all-time favorite song by these artists! :-)
Taylor is just insanely adorable😍
This show is what really sold me on the foo fighters..Been a solid fan ever more.
Great performance!
FInally after being with the band for 10+ years, the lead guitarist finally got a solo.
Hawkins kills this gig!
drummer's not even breakin' a sweat in that suit. top of their game.BMF
I love how this video is so colorful, even though it's black & white.
This is such an exciting and "prog" song, I really dig it. Looking forward to what the Foo's are going to bring on their new album Concrete and Gold.
I swear I ovulate every time I hear Chris Shiflett play guitar!

THE BEST SHOW EVER !
So tight live, some bands dont even sound like this on album, great band !
absolutely love Pat Smear and his facial expressions!
Love how Nate is using the Mcartney violin bass. Nice touch!!
Cool Taylor 😘 the best drums fire 🔥🔥🔥♥️🎶🤘 Dave and Taylor sweet soulmates ♥️ Beautiful intense love 😍 for years
These guys are noble, gods
Taylor has the same unbridled fire in his playing that Dave has. He's about the only drummer who could replace Dave in his own band.
That's how you perform!!! Taylor Damn!!!
my fav foos song
Definitely a tribute to Beatles. The Viola Like Bass Guitar, terrific sound however. Guitars up on the chest.

This reminds me of in bloom
This indecision got me climbing up the walls Been cheating gravity and waiting on the falls How did this come over me, thought I was above it all Our hopes gone up in smoke, swallow your crown On a kiss, thought I'd save my breath for you On a kiss, thought I'd save my breath for you Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm hanging on you Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm pulling for you now Give me some rope I'm coming, out of my head, into the clear When you, go, I, go, loose These premonitions got me crying up a storm Leave your condition, this position does no harm On a kiss, thought I'd save my breath for you On a kiss, thought I'd save my breath for you Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm hanging on you Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm pulling for you now Give me some rope I'm coming, out of my head, into the clear When you, go, I, go, loose Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm hanging on you Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm pulling for you now Give me some hope I'm coming through, I'm counting on you Give me some rope I'm coming, out of my head, into the clear When you, go, I, go Loose
Dónde estés gracias por tanto groove Taylor querido!❤
great to see Pat back with the band
Ok but can we congratulate Taylor for wearing a shirt and even better a SUIT
Pat is smooth
I love Dave and Taylor's harmony on this song so much ❤ RIP Taylor
