The fact that the Strokes are still influencing bands more than twenty years after their first album is a testament to how good they are

Lovely interview in the sense that he is really honest about life and feeling as a band.

Saw the Strokes open for RHCP’s. They are still great. However, no one noticed my Fontaines T-shirt?! I guess they are still the best kept secret around! I actually had a beer vendor give me a snarky look and did a “pttt” sound? Wtf!?

The Strokes were a bunch of ultra-rich papa boys who met at one of the most exclusive boarding schools in the world. They were and still are the opposite of anything remotely close to rock'n'roll (and by extension, to a a very decent band such as Fontaines DC).

Huge strokes fans here. I totally agree about them not having a rock and roll background but Julian is a special fella and they are hella good at their instruments

People don't have to have a certain background or upbringing to be "rock'n'roll"... It is true that the media in the 2000's made it seen like a 2nd coming of Christ in reference to the Strokes. They didn't even listened to the albums, they just had the looks to sell a great story. That said, you can't argue the quality of the music of The Strokes. They were/are a great band and they inspired a whole buch of new bands from different countrys, scenes and backgrounds.

I mean, cmon, nearly every Alternative band that has come out post 2001-2002 would both sound and look different if it wasn't for The Strokes, they had a profound influence on the scene and the music alike. It doesn't matter if they came from a middle class suburban home or a council flat, if thats a problem we better begin cancelling everyone from the The Clash to The Smiths.
