LYRICS:
Does you really don’t know where the avenuers go
Are you lying through your teeth or are they paying through your nose
A set of manners and a smile is all they want you for
But we can talk about it later
You can read it in the paper
I hated you away from the very start
I seen you sticking to your smile - it’s gone and broken my heart
Now the wind is making work of every step on the bridge
You say “I used to say we found each other - now I don’t know
Where he is”
You get that feel - make your spirit shine
I let her prize apart my ribcage like a crackhead at the blinds
- It hurt
But come the downing of a scrapyard sun
There is no light falls on our failure
It ain’t covered in the paper
Well I really don’t care what you think of me
But something gears me to the grovel every opportunity
I’ve got that jealous stripe
- I probably am that type
I’ll see you twenty Mary’s later
When your tongue is talking straighter
Heard he took ‘em all down to the mercenary bar
I heard she broke up with her fella now he’s drinkin’ in his car
- nah
I’m not inclined towards the scandalous word
But on the subject of myself I do believe what I’ve heard
There is a track beneath the wheel and it’s there till we die
She says “I don’t agree with nothing” I say “Neither do I”
- Go to sleep
There’s not a thing can’t be fixed with a dream
And we can talk about it later
You can read it in the paper
I bet ya
I bet ya
You had your smile
You had your smile
For the open mile
I bet ya I bet ya
You had your smile, your face defile
For the open mile
I bet ya I bet ya
I bet you now
I bet ya I bet ya
I bet you now
I bet ya I bet ya
I bet ya
I bet you now

This band, I swear to God - lot of their songs take a few listens to get into but the lyrics are just irreverently beautiful without exception. Never failing to make me shudder.

@@GoranZecSome songs are like Joy Division. The best song to me are the ones you need to listen to about 3 times because there’s so much to take in and when it comes together it’s beautiful. Radiohead has been my all time favourite band in the world but it still takes three listens for them and then they’re on permanent rotation.
Saw these dudes live opening for Arctic Monkeys. Never heard of them prior and holy crap they blew me away. I was just in a trance. Been listening to them non stop since. I will definitely see them again 🙌

Same thing happened for me too. As I was waiting to get into the concert I was able to hear them practicing " I Love You" and I fell in love
Love the brooding, hypnotic sound of this track. Kinda wish it was a bit longer, but that's a sign of a song leaving you wanting more in a good way. 'Skinty Fia' is shaping up to be one of the best albums of the year.

I love the authenticity of their lyrics. You can tell he's struggled, is self-aware and doesn't want other's to suffer him like he suffers himself. Genius.

This is incredible, boys. Holy shit. Depeche Mode influences with vibes of industrial. Will listen on repeat.
This band is so great at evolving their sound. This one sounds like something from Ultra-era Depeche mode. It’s awesome
It’s great to see them try different styles and absolutely succeed every time. I love that each album out of the three has/will have a different sound to each other.
When I look back on these so called wonder years of mine when I'm all shrivelled up and decrepit, these absolute gems that you lads make will serve as the backing track of my memories. Roll on skinty fia soooooooon ❤️
I watched saltburn yesterdat and was instantly reminded of this video. had to go back and have a listen
A week later and I’m still only listening to this album. What a freaking band. Glad to have seen them in Chicago last Friday!
LOVE, LOVE this whole album!! Hope the neighbors do too.

Les ví en Madrid anoche y tengo que decir que el concierto fue cortisimo; tocaron una hora y cuarto solamente! No me gusto esa actitud y ,en ese sentido, me defraudaron.
while this video coming out, I was recording a cover of "I Love You", which became my favorite song. I've really high expectations for this album, considering that this title track is a real bomb too! don't let me down, Grian!!

@@adrianlizardo1064 really, it might disappoint me by making songs not up to par with the ones we've heard until now. It's my concern cause in this period the music that I really like is difficult for me to find. Fortunately, it never happened with them! But I don't take this things for granted 😁

I hear some of that pulsing brushed soundscape that Peter Gabriel has used to such great effect - even some David Rhodes guitar scratches in there. And of course it’s none of that, either. Totally singular. Brilliant.

Three out of three absolute belters from this album so far, each one somehow better than the last. Amazing stuff!
"I let her prize apart my ribcage like a crackhead at the blinds" Wow, the imagery in his lyricism is incredible
I still think the party scenes from Saltburn movie were inspired by this video and also Irish folklore, great works, btw

First Monday I’ve enjoyed in my life. Can’t wait for the album!

i cant wait for this album. this song is so hypnotic. the video is too. I always know the video is worth watching when i see hugh mulherns name. It reminds me of songs i grew up with but at the same time none of them at all. so new and familiar
Fucking bass line could cut a man's throat!! This is living people.
Beautiful passionate dystopian music for the now, love the nonchalant existential vocals & the film almost gave me an epileptic fit. Bravo & Viva the Fontaines D.C.
Some of the best lyricism and songwriting from any band ever, absolute poetry
When a guitar band leads with the drums you have a winner!! 🏆
So listen to this, I've tried Fontaines in the past and really enjoyed a few tracks, but never thought much of them overall.... However, this is fuckin' incredible! This genuinely feels like a modern day classic, and the video is just so fuckin fitting. Not felt this way about a track in a long time
