Helpful as always! I like the short recap at the end.
Thank you Mathew. I really enjoy your instructions, your painting style and your paintings. It’s really a joy to learn from one of the best. Please make more videos.
The freshness of your paintings is always evident, and how you take such a simple scene and make it beautiful is truly amazing. Thank you for the lessons, Matt! 🎨👍
The way you explain things is very helpful to me. Thank you

So glad to hear that!
another great video - thanks for posting.
I make an effort to catch all of Matthew’s videos as I find them chuck full of information and encouragement. For those who are unhappy with the repeated offer of the 7 Secrets, it should be noted that it is a FREE offer, not an ad for a purchase. Also, it is easily bypassed by tapping Show Transcript. You can quickly then visually scan the transcript to where the current lesson begins and tap that time frame to immediately get into it. It is a good thing for many, however, to hear Matthew’s free offer as it is a generous offer of sound advice for newbies to Matthew’s channel. Thank you, Matthew, for your dedication to this KZread offering, which must be a time consuming effort. It is very much appreciated by many of us who are trying to learn and improve.
So Helpful!!!
Great advice. I love painting light so these suggestions were really right for me. Thanks

Thanks Matthew! I came from acrylics so I think of it as, watercolors always begin with a bright underpainting if you want it to glow. One topic I'm recently struggling with is the hurtle between sizes. I want to go larger but I'm hesitant to buy a roll of paper or a large block because of costs. I feel confident in my painting but I'm way more confident painting small and detailed so I'm afraid a larger watercolor will end in me getting lost in details and overworking.

Yes, it’s an adjustment to scale up. I think it’s worth trying if you want to keep pushing yourself but there’s nothing wrong with painting small. I’m going to address that in an upcoming video.

Me too. I think my problem is my weapons and tools. I only have small brushes. Going larger means investing on another brushes. Bigger brushes also more expensive.
Thank you, very interesting, much appreciated

Can you share what colors and brand you have on your palatte?
Recently I did a flower paintingin that I did flower first ...then used wax resist over flower.... then did background easily...so I realized no need for negative painting in any painting.whats your opinion?
Another great tutorial! I've noticed we have a very similar setup. I have that same table. But I get terrible glare from my light. Would you mind sharing which light you use? Are you happy with it?
I love the way you paint trees! I always struggle with that the most, do you use a dry brush for the foliage?
Matt;how do achieve the granulated effect Peter
A ha... you said you paint the light. Actually you paint the shadows and the light is come😁😁😁. Btw thank you for share the knowledge.
Would be cool if you would have made this a little more of a tutorial
Matthew, while i enjoy your videos I wanted to express that having an ad in every single tutorial is a little too much. Just a suggestion from those who follow you regularly, we know about your advertised lesson - can you put it at the end or maybe every other video??

Man's just trying to make a living like all the rest of us. It's not like he's doing ads for a third party sponsorship. How lucky are we to have so many free resources at our fingertips!!! If he's gotta self-promote for thirty seconds per video, I have no issue with that
Very good tips in this video but really too much advertising of your paid products, Matthew. It’s so tedious for those who regularly watch you on KZread.

You must have seen a different video than I did. I didn’t see any discussion of paid products. I agree overkill would be annoying. But considering that these videos are free to watch, I think it’s worth it. Also, can’t you get a paid subscription to KZread and avoid ads altogether?
