Haha so at first it was to show Dave you could do it, but then you did it again on other songs =) He never sleeps has some "wow" moments with that incredible full voice but yet beautiful and controlled! Your voice is still a mystery to me, knowing your natural voice is low haha

It’s always been something that I can do...especially when I’m able to get a big enough breath. When I’m coaching students I tell them it’s like blowing up a balloon and then only letting a little of the air leave at a time, but keeping a tremendous amount of foundation and support under the notes!

Bless you Claude.. Me and my friends used to try to sing every song that you guys have made back in the day! The song a “few more miles” continues to help me deal with the grief of losing my mother on last year ! Thank you for your deposit into this earth. God bless you. Godspeed

This one has remained in my rotating choices of "Which is my favorite Take 6 song?" Some days, weeks, months or years, this is my choice. It's also why the first multitrack sextet collaboration I ever did was of this song :) The character of your tone in the choruses was something that stood out to me. Not knowing this backstory, I always just assumed that it was a purposeful, stylistic choice, even injecting some nasal quality to it which, for me, was a source of mature humor and personality. I don't mean "nasal" in a negative way at all--it just seemed like this was a tool you had in your vocal kit and it's all over those first couple albums. It taught me that you can make bold choices for vocal sound and we don't always have to sing like our high school choir directors "taught" us to!

Sir I truly appreciate your words and observations:) just to share a bit more...one of the things we found ourselves doing, purposely and innately was to inject a slight bit of “Fagen” into our vocal delivery. So with that being said, go back and listen with that in mind!:) (“and finders are keepers..I...”)

@@ClaudeMcKnight3 Thanks for indulging me since I can't resist commenting on these videos :) Aha, this makes total sense...I think I'll listen to a Fagen album first and then come back to this one...

Kudos to you and Merv for your song writing skills, The change up with the verse and the verse made this song an instant classic. So Dave "poked the bear" in you, Claude. 😉 I'm not mad at the result and probably no one else is upset with the final result either. Woosah... 😊 ❤️💜

You have to remember that in the almost 35 years that we’ve been together professionally we’ve had a couple of personnel changes, and with those changes we haven’t gone back and learned this or a few other of the early songs to be able to perform.

I may not know much about these vocal terms but, I do know, in the song,"You can never ask too much of love", your voice is fully powerful. I've tried to mimic you at a voice rehearsal audition and was thrown out as it showed up the other contestants...hahahahhahha. Go Claudie Mac!!!
