Pixel looks so much better than the Samsung. Really dislike Samsungs tall skinny, thick form factor.

I just got my pixel fold and sent in my fold 4 as trade-in. A lot of people love the specs, but the pixel fold is the exact aspect ratio and kind of phone I've wanted, as someone who absolutely LOVED surface duo, but was let down by crappy software. I kept going back to fold. But the pixel fold feels like the lovechild between fold and duo. And I've only played with it for almost a day, but I'm really loving it. I love turning phone fpr a portrait view when doing things like this.... Typing up a comment on a video while I can still watch it in the upper screen. It folds like a book and is AMAZING for Kindle. I really like it that way. People act like rotating the phone is out of the question. But tablets are often in landscape then you rotate if needed. I'm not upset by this device just yet. The ONLY complaint I have is about power and volume rocker location. It's a little aggravating. Otherwise I'm quite happy and getting REALLY good battery life since I turned off the 120hz and always on display. It's actually better than fold 4 was with same things turned off. The outer screen is going to be a game changer in my job because I have to do a lot of notes and the skinny fold 4 outer screen sucked for typing notes. And since I work in heavy dust areas, I refuse to open it to use inside screen while at work. This pixel fold looks amazing and I'm really excited to have it.

Samsung Z Fold 2 was the huge design jump. Z Fold 3 is a 2 with water resistance, Z Fold 4 is a 3 with slightly better cameras, looks like the Z Fold 5 will be a 4 that close with no gap like in the Pixel Fold everything else looks the same though the front screen might get slightly wider.

I just want wider front screen. Ive been asking Samsung to keep it tall but make it wide like the Pixel Fold. Im all for a Larger inner display. I just want larger Front screen and a 5000 to 6000 but hopefully 6000 mAh battery 🔋 .

I think many pixel fold users will soon come to realize the problematic design. 1. Most apps we used are portrait apps which don't scale properly to landscape orientation. Even if Google came up with a full screen hack (like zfold) stretching these portrait apps to a landscape screen will look extremely horrible. Don't forget, current zfold full screen hack is to go fullscreen in portrait screen. 2. With pixel fold there is the hassle of needing to rotate the screen to portrait if you don't want half the screen area being wasted by letter boxing. Not to mention, the need to rotate again to close the fold. 3. Even those apps with having landscape view support are not always optimum either as the fold is not a 10 inch tablet. These landscape optimized apps use half the screen to display main content (which is less than what you get on a candy bar phone). Even the KZread app is better in portrait. It gives you a big size video on the top half and you can read comments below. In landscape view, video size is much smaller unless you go into fullscreen (which means you can't see comments at the same time). 4. When pixel fold screen is rotated to portrait (most usage scenario), having the crease on the horizontal is way MORE distracting than on vertical. When vertical content scrolls over the horizontal crease you will see the constant waviness/distortion which makes you feels like you gonna get seasick. And the horizontal crease will much more visible as the crease is at an angle to your eyes when you are holding the phone in portrait. 5. Even multi-window split view is worse than zfold. After deducting the status bar and app header and bottom bars, pixel fold has a short vertical area for content. In conclusion, Pixel fold sacrifices the inner screen and everything else for a SLIGHTLY better cover screen typing only. Totally stupid imo.

those are certainly fair points. I personally use my inner screen for watching contenet and reading manga which it is perfect for. I use my folds both the same way so I am not losing anything. To each their own!

They should exile the app developers until they give in and Optimize the apps better for Foldable phones.

That's one way for google to lose a lot of revenue for a very niche product. Why would app devs spend resources for the few whose using foldables when they can spend it on the millions of people with regular phones? App devs won't care until foldables are in the hands of many. Google could've pave the way for cheaper foldables but no, it's just another expensive phone that only a few could have.

I like Samsung to get thicker. I'm not a thin phone fan. The Pixel Fold front screen is the best for Foldable on the Market but.... Samsung is better in Everything else. Therefore I canceled my Pixel Fold Pre-Order and I will likely get the Z Fold 5 if Blown away. Based on the Leaked photos that have the Z Fold 4 side by side of the Z Fold 5. The 5 looks a little wider on the front screen the camera is larger and a little wider and it folds closed with no gap like the Pixel Fold. 11 speakers holes in the Fold 4 vs 9 holes in the speaker in Fold 5. So im not sure if that equates to the speakers getting worst or not.

From all the leaks I've seen the fold 5 is just getting an SOC upgrade to SD 8 gen 2 and a slightly smaller hinge gap. That's a hard pass for me personally

Google not really pushing any app devs to optimize apps for folds. App devs wont prioritize spending resources on phones that only few people have. For now, samsung and chinese foldables approach is better until foldables become affordable. If anything, google could've paved the way for cheaper foldables to get it to the hands of many, and to get app devs to work on foldables but they did not. People should stop buying google's promise. Pixel fold is just a very nice hardware without proper softwares.

Yeah I definitely agree with your viewpoint. If Google gets Android developers to fix their apps they really are helping out the competition. I also agree with not getting a fold with the intent of Google's promise as you mentioned. I honestly choose the pixel fold over anything due to the outside screen form factor

Pixel software not good as Samsung and pixel gets hot with the chip that's in it, no thanks Samsung is still King

I haven't had any heating issues with my pixel. And fold software is better on Samsung, but the other 90% of the pixel experience is better imo. Call screening alone makes me like Google's software more.
