Honor increase the battery every year so why can't Samsung do the same

Upgrading from a Note 9, I wanted the pen in the phone with a big portable display... but I cant take another year.... I just got the fold 6 on pre-order but I purchased it using the Samsung app (first time using the app) which saved me 10% in addition to all the other discounts! So just saying for anyone that does think about buying it.. you can save an extra 10% by using the app (and possibly making a new temporary Samsung account lol).

Great videos, as always. I have been watching your battery tests lately, is interesting to watch and also my S20 FE now three years old still gets me 4-5 hrs SOT on medium to light use.

Surprised you were able to post this so soon. Nice to see tthe info, it's just that Samsung used to have a 'blackout period' before content creators could post after being released for orders. That said considering the battery size is unchanged the biggest impact to battery life in this gen comes down to the new chip being used. So i wasn't surprised to see virtually no change.

Even though I don't plan on getting any of these phones I always find these tests entertaining. Subbed 👍

Thank you for this. Its insane that we still have to deal with Samsung releasing 4400mah batteries with 25w/15w wired/wireless charging when Vivo and other Chinese brands are dropping foldables with 5000-5700mah batteries with 80 or 100w wired and 50w wireless charging... Not to mention the flagship cameras Vivo includes. Puts every foldable sold in the US to shame. At least OnePlus is around.

Unfortunate but the West ain't ready for Chinese foldables. They really are the best in the world. I just have one complaint, they seem to always be sending data to some random server called "CCP" in my connections advanced menu, not sure what that is but other than that it's perfect!

Zfold6 disappointed with battery backup. Most of foldable phones are giving minimum 5000mah battery even samsung giving 4000mah for small flip 6 but why they didn't give at least 5000mah for Zfold6. Really disappointed

Great job on the video! You know to be honest I don’t think it’s anything to be disappointed about Samsung is actually going in the right direction. Focus on optimization and working with the battery you have instead of increasing the battery size. After the first update I think the battery will last longer but if you notice the temperaturethroughout the video that’s where they need to focus on keeping the phone cool. Whatever the optimal temperature to run that chip is where they should focus on improving. Grammar errors blame it on the iPad I am using😅

I actually noticed that unlike the Samsung phones the Pixel bounced in and out of 5G so that might have used some more power on the Pixel but if you have a Z Fold5 there's no need to get the Z Fold6

Nice work! Z Fold 6 will learn the user patterns and probably squeeze out a little more juice on post-launch firmware

Considering this is pre-released software, the Fold 6 did hold up pretty well. Plus it should learn usage patterns so it will definitely get better with time.

@@justronny20 I took a look at a video of his from 2 months ago where he did a battery test of the fold 5, pixel fold, oneplus open, and honor V2. The fold5 and pixel here, lasted about 20-30 minutes more. Most likely just a difference in the specific tests. But I thought to compare his devices over time.

I know you don't usually do this, but you should consider doing a battery drain/charge test for the most popular smart watches, especially the different sizes of Galaxy watches.

I have switched from F5 to F6. I concluded that the battery in F6 is much more durable than F5, even in the 1st week of battery fine tuning. The smallest improvement is the camera, I am sure the photo taking is nearly the same as F5. Everything is obviously improved from F6 in the first 3 days of usage.

Usually after a week of usage, the battery gets much better after it learns your usage pattern. I had the same experience with my Fold 4. I know this battery test is very hard, it would be very interesting if you do the test again with just the fold 6.

Samsung should get their shit together and use silicon carbon batteries like chinese companies.. they weigh less hold more charge in the same space as li ion batteries.. and they are safer and last longer.. they also charger much faster.. im running out of english trying to list the benefits

Ye that 8 gen 3 heats things to much, they tried to control it with the bigger vapour chamber but ye. I suppose it has better performance with similar better life.

You would not base a purchase decision on battery life between any of these three devices as the differences are not significant, especially since the Pixel and Fold5 are a year old. They all did reasonably well.

Google rushed to launch the device so it launched in the summer of 2023 with the 2022 tensor g2 instead of the g3 that pixel 8 launched with in the fall of 2023 so this year they decided to wait until the tensor G4 was ready so the new pixel fold will launch with a 2 generation chip upgrade . The g2 to the g3 was a major improvement in battery and efficiency so jumping two generations will bring major improvements.

Google really did optimize the pixel fold considering it launched with the tensor 2 instead of the tensor 3 that the pixel 8's had so I'm interested in how the pixel fold2 with the tensor G4 will do .

Google Pixel Fold is the only one with the correct dimensions for a foldable phone, in my opinion. Too bad it's not available in Australia. And too bad the 2nd Gen is going to move away from that concept and the back camera module will be so fugly.

I’ll be interested in knowing what the Z Fold5 scored last year when it was new. Because this year you’re comparing a brand new battery against a year old battery so that’s kind of not fair.

Given the other two phones are old , especially the z fold 5 for comparison, you’d have to say the win for the z fold 6 was actually not a win and very hollow indeed , because it’s a fair assumption if the z fold 5 had a brand new battery in it , the Z fold 6 would have lost by a mile. Instead of making the z fold 6 thinner, Samsung should have left it alone and put a bigger battery in it . They sacrifice improvement to make it pretty 😢.

Hoping the pixel fold 2 will have a bigger battery and be more efficient with power to lower temps

if you add vivo x fold 3 pro to the test you will kill the hyper around the fold 6 forever

I think you should do this battery drain test 7 times because the software learning the usage takes around a week and then it optimizes and gets better.

They claimed it got at least 2 more hours of video playback and 10-25% more battery efficiency.... you expect a claim of over 2 more hours of Netflix to not be limited to but you gotta watch the same movie 7 times so it learns your usage patterns..that's a lie and a con in any other industry.

I would just buy the fold 6 if I had the money and the camera would be much better. If the system is identical to the fold 5, it’s a big deception (I compare it with my old S22 Ultra and iPhone 15 PM). Over 2000€ not to have some of the best cameras, it won’t cut it… I love when someone says “it’s for managers, etc etc and they don’t need great cameras”. This phone is for the ones that NEED/WANT one, so for 2000€ they want that this phone does “everything” at least very well, photos and videos inclusive.

It's shameful that the Galaxy Fold still hasn't increased the battery capacity or charging speeds

Just like the rest of the fold 6 (or more or less the fold 5S) Not much difference from the fold 5. As much as the fold 6 is a disappointment the pixel continues to be terrible though lol. Lets hope google does a much better job than samsung this year

The samsung event was an absolute trainwreck. It's like they just woke up from an all night binder and just fumbled through their lame presentation.

@@alphaspartan no, the real reason was manufacturing defect in note 7s batteries had caused some of them to generate excessive heat. Not size of the battery .

It's not about the mAh number guys it's about how much physical battery will fit in the phone. Note 7 is not as big as S24U so of course the mAh is smaller but they tried to pack it too tight. It's like water balloons. Fill it too tight and it pops. My laptop battery is like 50,000mAh and it's fine. The note 7 was too small with curves to fit it's battery inside.

It does not take into consideration that batteries age and are not so much on the staying power. The fold 6 is a new phone, the Fold 5 and Pixel are about a year old so not a fair comparison.
