Fokker Dr1 Dreidecker - Mikael Carlson - Hahnweide 2019

Fokker Dr.1 "Dreidecker" flown by Mikael Carlson at Hahnweide 2019
Sunset display with this amazing accurate and original Fokker Triplane with an original engine of its time. Great dynamic display with loops and rolls and machinegun sounds flown by builder and owner Mikael Carlson from Sweden.
I was standing in the middle of the crowd, so sorry for some disturbing noises and some bumps i get while filming. Also there was no chance to see the landing and take off clear with the static line warbirds and all the people there. Somebody can give me a press access next time? 😄

Really awesome seeing +100 year old aircraft still flying.
It's great to see people keeping those pieces of history still flying !!!!! This is an example of how maneuverable they really were !!! Great job guys!!!!!!!!!!
Incredible! I’ve seen them fly before but never to their full capability. No wonder some of the top aces kept flying them despite there being more modern designs available toward the end of the war. A pilot that was good in one of these would be unstoppable.

That's from the Rise of Flight description of the DR.1 (and they didn't even get the Flight Model right for stall/post-stall or uncoordinated turns) that stated some pilots still used it to "snipe enemies" until the end of the war. I have no idea where that myth came from originally, but it's false. Pilots had no choice in the plane they were flying, the DR.1's were pulled from frontline service by Idflieg once D.7's became available in quantity.

Ausgezeichnetes Fliegen , Herr Leutnant !!!
Awesome piloting and some really smooth WWI era Immelmanns, turns and fly bys at low altitude. All smoother than butter. Most of these antiques get to fly carefully around the pattern, this pilot shows you what she's got. It's a mystery how the Germans lost that one. Great video!

technically, this triplane isn't antique its a reproduction, although I believe the engine is an original. There aren't any original complete Fokker DR1's that survived. The last one was destroyed in a bombing raid in Germany during WW2. I agree with you wholeheartedly though, it is a great video!
@darkiee69
Жыл бұрын
@@37silverstreak1 It's built after original plans, to original specs, using methods of the day. So no welding, just brazing. Mickael was a bit annoyed that he couldn't find a recipe of the original glue, but he found a glue that looked like the original when dried.

12:53 AND now he needs a toilet...FAST 😀 Great one, 705547!
when the sun hits the underside of the wings at 13:15, Glorious! Werner Voss would be proud of this demonstration!

Is this also an Oberursel engine? Or an engine modified for ROTATING ALONG WITH THE PROPELLER? What an incredible machine!

It has an original 9-cylinder Le Rhône engine from the 1910s, which is nearly identical to the Oberursel.
Почему такой большой зазор коромысла клапана ?
I'm assuming from the description this is an original so is there any information on what pilot(s) flew this one during the war?
@705547

It is an original engine from the war, and as far as i know some original metal parts were used. All wood and fabric are newly built by the pilot himself. Check out his website for more information.
@ :33 that exhaust valve has plenty of clearance!
The only DR.1 with an Oberursel.
the barrels of the guns look like they would send bullets into the propeller...
