What you have there is the standard version which I had. It is very nice for $5,500. I now have 2 Yin Yang Deluxes and the workmanship in this 2 are out of this world. Those are definitely a labor of love considering Fodera only make 6 a year. At least when I bought my 2014. They run about $12,500. My 2008 was purchased used and the wood was from the same batch as Victor's. That bass is my #1.

I can confirm after visiting the factory/workshop in 2015 that it's absolutely MIND BLOWING to feel and play them... it was like warm melting butter tier smoothness of playing and sliding up and down the neck. the wood and weight was amazing - so light, but so damn solid. it honestly is the most amazing instrumental experience I've had in 19 years of playing music.

also the feeling of playing the notes, the tone and the feeling of playing staccato notes was IN. SANE. it was SO plucky and clean and really punchy and powerful, but not OVERpowering. just... 20/10 would buy (am going to buy!)

Although probably one of the farthest from a "boutique" bass as it can get, I honestly feel the same way about my Sire V7 4-string. The feel of the one I have is like putting on the most comfortable, broken in pair of shoes that you've owned for years and still makes you look amazing at the same time.

Me too, my 5 string Sire V7 ash maple in sunburst is my weapon of choice. It really speaks to me like nothing else. Low B is thunderous but articulate at the same time and it can sing above 12th fret on D and G strings. It looks nice too.

However, Sweetwater carries them... and anyone who has one of their credit cards knows.. best financing options period! I think the Fodera basses are like 36 month no interest.. if they every do a 48 month, I might just be down.. xD

Emphasis on the some. Warwick is another one that you have to spend some real money to get performance. Whereas I’ve played several foderas and if all you do is play mid range to crappy basses, you need to relearn how you play. It like forces you to be a better bassist. They have such a light low action that it’s almost like playing a regular electric guitar, almost effortless. But super responsive, and that punch is real. It’s really hard to describe.

Bass looks and sounds awesome, but in a live situation you are going to be buried to have a taste to all those sounds. For studio work is a different story, but it sounds so crispy that you must be a really, really good player with impeccable technique as the instrument will show nice sounds but also the player flaws.
