Real shame that our team was spread so thin with injuries. Would’ve loved to get the double over them.

I think Unai lost a battle to win a war. With no Watkins, McGinn, Kamara (obviously), Cash & then losing Emi before kick-off i think Unai decided to give lads like Morgan and Tim experience against a world-class side. Hopefully Emi and Ollie are fit for Saturday. Super John McGinn will be back and i fully expect Pau, Youri & Leon to return to the starting X1. Get those 6 back to face Brentford. If we beat Brentford and get a positive result against Lille it'll have been the right call & it won't surprise me if Unai makes a similar team selection at Arsenal. We have no choice with a thin squad. We'll bounce back on Saturday! 🦁 UTV

I think this is exactly it. Nobody likes losing, and accepting a defeat before the game may seem a bit tinpotty. But I think you perfectly described it - lose a battle to win the war. We now have rested key players and John McGinn back for a more winnable (still hard) game at the weekend and the remaining games ahead

I'm really still proud of the boys. I dont think 4-1 justified the scoreline. We played some great football when we had the chance. An we kept going till the end. On a different day full team we could of given them a better game. Oh well onwards and upwards. UTV 💙 💜 💙 💜

Duran did really well. Zaniolo on the up. Tim played well in the middle. Lenglet comes in and plays fine. Even Olsen did well, nothing he could do about any of the goals. Decent performance, just not enough when Foden plays out of this World in an oil team.

Shame about their 2nd goal just before half time, we definitely held our own. A questionable opening goal for them. I thought it was more tighter than the Duran goal, but I never saw the horizontal lines for a potential off side for that Rodri goal. Plus points, Roger's is looking a class signing, and Olsen had a great game, certainly not at fault for any of their goals. Oh, hopefully Chambers doesn't put on a Villa shirt again. UTV.

It was a really good performance given the injuries and suspensions. We gave it a go and who knows if another of those chances got put away. No complaints. Brentford is a must win and SJM is back which is huge.

So yeah that was a game. I was definitely confused when I first saw the lineup, but then when it turned out Emi was out also I was here for it, basically a free hit. Get Tim his first start and the other young players so quality time as well, make sure Ollie and Emi are back for Brentford. Respect to Robin Olsen too, none of the goals were his fault, I thought he played well. Lastly I want to say massive praise to you away fans who were by far the loudest group in the stadium all night.

As it is we're doing just fine without him while his form has gone walk about under Pep! How many times in my life have I seen that happen to Villa players? In any case, under FFP I doubt we could afford him now without selling some real quality and I'm not sure I'd want that.

Please don't bounce back too well on Saturday. We also have awful injuries (our manager isn't moaning, but I am) - no first choice back four since 19th September (Hickey, Pinnock, Mee, Henry all out, as well as Schade, Norgaard, Dasilva). I say every week, I'm sick of villa giving cheap stupid free kicks away, in a dangerous areas. We never learn. But overall, with the team, that played, the players played well in parts. This doesn't define our top 4 charge, bring on Brentford.

Performance was better than the result, especially considering who was missing.

Did Grealish clap the away fans at all at the end of the game?

I think we still would've lost with most of the first team in anyway cos it's Citeh innit, so credit to Unai for resting some of them. We do tend to crumble against the big boys though. We gave Rodri his customary goal. Foden took his goals well. City's first win against a top5 team this season. Of course it was. Spurs still have to play them, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea like us so all is not lost. UTV.

We had some seriously bad performances and then was the perfect time to get someone in to steady the ship and go again for this season.. If I’m right in saying that was when Gerrard was dismissed and in came Emery? 🤔 I know we won the UEFA Conference League and what a special night it was for the club and gave myself and my Dad loads of fantastic memories at the London Stadium but like with everything it has to come to an end, he’s got us to a REALLY strong position as a club and that I’m incredibly grateful for because of what we were used to me like! 🫠 I’ve got nothing against Moyes as a person it’s his style of football which is a chore to watch especially in the rain on a Tuesday night at 8:15pm kickoff! 😂 With the players we’ve got like Paqueta & Kudus who would obviously thrive under a attacking styled approach with the likes of Pep Guardiola is something we need to change or these players who are the highlight of our squad could soon be heading for those SkySports “big 6” 🙄😒⚒ Sorry for the long reply. 😂⚒🫧
