I've never seen eagles pant before. Is that normal behavior?

Yes, eagles pant to cool down and dissipate heat. Just like dogs, they do not have sweat glands. 😊

There's a cute video of Shadow panting with his baby eaglet Spirit trying to catch his tongue with her beak, she probably thought he had fish in his mouth. I'm sure they smell like fish.

It’s clear where Spirit got her ‘squee’ from! Lol ❤🦅🦅

He’s like “jeez! Let me get my foot out of your mouth”

My poor dog, who is usually planted on my lap when I'm viewing S&J, nearly has a heart attack every time Shadow hauls in a fish n Jackie gets so loud with her begging!!!

It make me smile when Queen Jackie grabs the fish or a branch away from Shadow (with a squeal). He pauses, looks up and to the side, and than steps aside. So patient. 🦅💞

Jackie is really very ferocious when it comes to fish. She will automatically assume it’s for her, which of course most of the time it is

I love Shadow's expression at 4:20! So funny! He must be seeing himself in the camera lens. Not his best angle but still a handsome guy! I wonder why he's salivating so much. It's so nice to see the two of them still nurturing their nest and each other. ❤❤🦅🦅

That's a first for me since discovering the Dynamic Duo 🦅 🦅 EL Fluffy head Shadow jumping from the nest to the left side branches 😂 I know Shadow smaller but when close up you see they are both big healthy birds & Jackies neck 🧣 back of head like a heavieweight boxer 🥊 lol 😂 If Shadow really wanted the fish 🐠 he'd let Jackie know as did see a video & think Simba? I Was in nest & Jackie tried but Shadow was not having it! Jackie obviously a great fisher as well as she is an eagle 🦅 just don't need to when you have the best looking & smartest Fluffy head to provide for you it's happy 😊 Days eh Jackie me luvley 😂👌👍

Awww poor Shadow. He wanted some fish too. But I remember when he didn’t let his little girl Spirit have a fish he had brought to the nest a couple of years ago. Jackie didn’t leave anything to munch on. Beautiful scenery and visuals of the two looking over Big Bear Lake. I didn’t think I’ve ever seen when shadow jumps up on a limb by their nest and is in tune with his Jackie. Beautiful. ♥️🦅🦅♥️

You’ve noticed how full Shadow’s crop always is too!!! Yes, it seems that when Shadow intends to provide Jackie with the Catch of the Day, he brings it to the nest, but when he wants a meal for himself, he eats elsewhere. I imagine this is why Jackie arrived at the nest first sounding the FEEESH Alarm: she must have seen the direction Shadow was headed and knew a meal was coming her way. To be honest, I do worry as to why Jackie is so dependent on Shadow to fill her crop. 🤔The way she lunged for the fish today - combined with the fact that she never looks as full as Shadow does - makes me wonder if she’s experiencing difficulty catching her own fish. 😕 Thoughts?

@@jenniferlynn3537 those are truly gifts from Shadow which stengthens their bond. But she is quite capable of catching her own meals. During nesting season the males often bring in fish as they are the main provider for the chicks while the female incubates. Shadow is rare in that he brings meals to Jackie outside of incubation periods. It is a testament to their strong pair bond. He is amazing ❤️

@@jenniferlynn3537 I have seen Jackie bring her own food to the nest on occasion or return with a bloody beak and talons, signs of a kill. But she does have a mate with superb fishing skills so maybe she reverts to the stage of kleptoparasitism to get her fish. Seriously, she may have some difficulty with catching her own prey so we can be all the more thankful for Shadow's willingness to provide for her.

Yes, it’s part of their bonding ritual. Jackie is very capable, but he’s ‘courting’ her and if you look you’ll see how full Shadow’s crop is. All part of the mating ritual, kinda like having flowers delivered to your job! :) It’s ‘their’ thing, all part of nature :) Have a good day

One was eaten by Jackie, one seemed to be buried under the grass, and the other seemed to be thrown away.Anyway, eggs that can't hatch are thrown and eaten
