It is unlikely that the eggs will hatch at this point. We have no way of knowing why. It could be environmental, such as temperatures, humidity percentages, oxygen levels at high altitude, etc. It could be biological with something just being off at the time the eggs were created. It is very unlikely that either Jackie or Shadow are infertile since they have already had 2 sets of chicks together - in 2019 and 2022.
When eggs don’t hatch, Jackie and Shadow may start withdrawing from incubation eventually (they usually over incubate for several weeks, details can be found in our Activity Log). Withdrawal is always a process and it happens gradually with longer and longer breaks. Shadow may be a little bit more stubborn than Jackie (this is something we have observed in the past). Left unattended, the eggs may eventually be scavenged by ravens or other animals. The nest cameras are live 24/7/366 weather and maintenance permitting.

It was so nice to see them spending time together yesterday…just side by side in their tree - chatting and watching their nest from afar. I love when they both sing out at the same time- adorable. An image to recall as the weeks go by and we’ll be missing them
It would be nice to see them with another clutch. I heard that they must abandon these eggs first. Jackie and Shadow never cease to amaze me. Thank you Cali Condor for all your videos. Such a blessing!🙏🏽🦅

I just watched a video from 2022 and Spirit. I fell in love with that screeching, toe biting girl. That was a fitting name. I think that she must have the loudest vocal cords in Eagles. I hope that she finds a great mate. One as nice as Shadow.

It's always hard to "let go," and Jackie and Shadow are no exception. I'm glad to see that they can nonetheless enjoy some intimate companionship as they slowly resolve to give up expectations for triplets this year.
I check google and it said: Eventually an unhatched egg may be buried or trampled into the nest or even partially consumed by adults or fed to a hatched nestling. The parents may move pieces of shell out of the nest cup. Unhatched eggs may remain in the nest for months after the nest is vacated; they may be destroyed by predators like crows, ravens, or raccoons. And The parents stay that area, they will remove the old nest and make new nest. That spot is their home. I learn something of eagle's culture..
Jackie and Shadow don’t seem to grieve. Beautiful resilience. Doing what they love anyway.

@margomckinney5743- I echo that sentiment! I look forward to seeing them and learning every day! I suppose selfishly on my part I don’t want them to leave the nest. I admit I’m not perfect and my human emotions get in the way and say “ please don’t leave!” My rational mind says fly high be free to enjoy your eagle life and stop by to visit. I hope I made sense. I really enjoy watching Jackie and Shadow's switcharoos. They have stellar flighing and landing skills. They are so devoted to each other. ❤🦅

2024-04-03. Jackie and Shadow Withdrawal Process: Jackie left the eggs 4x today. While Shadow been actively switching 3x with Jackie. On the 4th time Jackie left of the day. Shadow been 3times In x Out from the nest, [ontop from Switcheroo]. The eggs has been left unattended for more than an hour today. 00:02 06:00AM - Jackie Left the egss unattended for 1 hour, 40 minutes 00:46 07:40AM - Jackie returned. Stayed only for 1 hour, 36 minutes 01:34 09:16AM - Jackie left. Left eggs for 1 minute. 02:40 09:17AM - Shadow arrived. 1st Shift of the day. 03:05 12:54NN - Shadow left. Left the eggs unattended for 11 minutes. 03:45 01:05PM - Shadow returned. 04:25 01:12PM - Jackie Arrived.Switcheroo.Shadow left without saying anything. 06:09 01:54PM - Jackie Left, stayed for 42 minutes. 06:45 01:54PM - Shadow Arrived. 07:48 03:40PM - Shadow Left, stayed for 1 hour, 46 minutes. Eggs were unattended 5 minutes. 09:16 03:45PM - Jackie Arrived. 09:47 04:52PM - Jackie Left, stayed for 1 hour, 7 minutes. Eggs were unattended for 8 minutes. 10:17 05:00PM - Shadow Arrived. 10:32 05:04PM - Shadow Left, stayed for 4 minutes. Eggs were unatteded for 7 minutes. 11:12 05:11PM - Shadow Returned. 12:02 05:17PM - Shadow stayed for 6 minutes with the eggs then Leave. Shadow went to meet up with Jackie on a nearby fave tree and Mated. 13:35 06:38PM - Shadow returned, after leaving the eggs unattended for 1 hour, 21 minutes. 14:41 07:01PM - Shadow left, after staying for 23 minutes. 15:08 07:04PM - Shadow returned with a Fish. Shadow ate the whole fish all by himself. 21:02 07:10PM - Shadow started incubating the eggs. 21:50 07:25PM - Jackied arrived, after being out for 2 hours and 33 minutes. Eagles were discussing. 23:00 07:26PM - End of Shadow shift, Shadow left.

With respect watched a few pairs now & the Dynamic Duo not sure what it is but seem more intelligent loving caring all the trades we look to being great honest humans! Personally I think they know we are watching them 😂 Seriously I only noticed yesterday that a road & today looks like a town or houses 🏘 and a road as noticed headlights must have been camera 📸 angle but hey learn something new & different every video 📹 anyhoo peace out people ✌️ 🦅🦅👍

Your house is a mess Shadow. You need to start moving the furniture to make it look neat and precise like you always do. It's not usual to find an eagle that has OCD.

She did jump off Jackie’s back once in the middle of the night I know…not sure about how many sightings though.

How long will they foster the eggs?
Will they use the same nest?
How long will they still sit on those eggs? Do they abandon them and then predators take them or do they kick them out with there claws? So wishing at least one egg would hatch...
Do they have to just leave the whole nest and all or do they just dispense the eggs?

Eventually they will stop sitting on the eggs and crows will eat them. That's what happened last year.

Have ABE ever been observed predating their own eggs? I've read that they scavenge just wondering. No offense intended. I hope no one has ever seen that.
