Ive been using the Fat paw grip for over 6 months now they are the most comfortable grips ive used.

Really enjoy your videos. I’ve been running the mega fatpaw for a couple months and I’m over the moon for them. Hands 212mm so they are probably a touch thicker than I need, but so far so good. I’m sure you’ll keep up the good work. Very informative.

Hey thanks! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that loves them. I actually ran the Mega Fats before learning the formula. I could tell they were slightly too large for me (195mm as I mentioned), but I still got along with them well and appreciated the extra padding. I'd say you're totally fine with the Megas because some of the studies recommended up to 19.5% which would actually put you 41mm grip diameter. 👊🏼

I just recently switched to a set of Wolftooth fat paws. Can't believe I put up with my old grips for so long.

This 18% measure should be used for more grips and selling th3’ accurately. Great vid.

Have you enjoyed the fat paws did they make a difference? I am also on a hard tail mtb

I have larger than average hand and I like the ESI racers edge there the slim ones! less issues with my palms

I have been running foam grips on my flat bar gravel bike for sometime now. First it was a set of bontragers and now a set of esi chunkys. I really like them. They hold up pretty well and are definitely super grippy. I have noticed some numbness on longer rides and your suggested calculations point to me searching for a grip that is about 35.5mm in diameter. So I think I may step up to the esi extra chunky as I have been happy with their product and like to support companies that manufacture in the states. I don’t want to go any larger as I am concerned a super thick grip may interfere slightly with my brake lever. Should be a nice upgrade nonetheless. Thank you for talking about the science.

I'll have to look into that. Even for a short woman, I have really small hands (I wear children's size TASCO gloves if that's any indication) and I get dead hands all the time. The carbon fiber handle bar has helped a lot though. Great videos. Looking forward to the next one in this series.

Check out revgrips. There is suspension built into the grip. They seem expensive to start, but they will reduce your dead hand significantly. The "small" size is really just standard but they are available in half waffle for great grip. Replacement rubber for the grip is about $25 but they last a long time. (I have no financial interest. I'm just a fan.) Also, dead hand/arms may be a geometry issue. Right size bike, riding position, seat angle, stack height, and handlebar sweep. That handlebar sweep is subtle but ~2degrees makes a huge difference. It's best to have someone super knowledgeable about bike fit observe you on the bike. A bike shop employee or someone with tons of the right experience is your best bet. This may not be your favorite riding buddy.

Thanks for this video. I just ordered the Mega Fat Paws. It would be nice if there was a brand that made a 38 mm grip. What did your thoughts on the oneup handlebar end up being? I was looking at that as a solution to grip pain as well.

I ran extra chunky esis for a few years. Few years ago, rev grips launched their grips. They are more expensive at first, but i dont look back. Foam grips wear out quite quickly, and thats when you start to deathgrip again. Rev grips you can just buy new rubbers, those go foe 25 bucks, and youre good as new.

Hello, I’m all for silicone grips but… my bike has drop handlebars! What would you suggest for these? Looking forward to your advice 🤗

Been wanting to run grips like this for a while but how do they grip? Also, do they get slippery when wet if I wanted to go gloveless?

How would you rate the Ergon GA3 to address the same pain or numbness issues compared to these foam grips?

My silicone grips shrink overtime is that ok?

Wolf tooth is the best, used esi and they chip really fast

I know we're not talking about the old hard foam grips, but does that mean most soft foam grips now are made of silicone? Hard to tell what's what when you're shopping on Amazon. Some say silicone, some say soft foam, are they just basically equal material wise?

I installed them on my fat bike and they seem to keep my hand warmer than rubber grips . I live in canada and its hard to keep your hands warm at -15 degrees celsius.

Love my esi chunkys.... but I will say they are super slippery without gloves. Another pro tip is to use Odyssey bar end plugs for much better durability

I will say that I haven’t personally ran the ESI grips, but just feeling them compared to the Wolf Tooth, the Wolf Tooth do seem tackier.

My hands were 37.7mm. I guess that means Fat Paw or Mega Fat Paw for me!

Only problem, they break very quickly. If i rub them on something they rip apart

Fatpaw user here, that certainly applies for mega fatpaws. I'd say most adults should run 36mm grips. 30mm grips for people that say they "like them" is just incorrect

Have you tried RevGrips? Do you have a comparison video between the revgrips vs these grips?

They're on-par, if not more durable than a standard rubber grip IMO. My Wolf Tooth grips on my Hightower lasted over 1 year. Realistically, I probably could have replaced them at 8-10 months just to get a fresh set, but they held up well past that.

Foam grips would definitely be a cheap way to try to mitigate vibration which can contribute to your issues.

If your skin comes off, try riding with gloves. I can't believe there was a time i rode without my fox ranger gloves, it makes it all so much more comfortable without hindering your finger movement.

Ergons aren’t helping I’ll give this a try. Also would love to see a OneUp bar review since there is a lot of talk on reducing vibration. Great channel btw interesting perspective!

My hands always go numb. I don't like the way they look vs a nice set of lock-ons but It's worth a shot I guess.

Keep in mind that a set of mechanical lock-ons will notgive you the feel or motor skills your real hands have. The tech is not there yet so it might be too early to amputate your hands just due to looks.

Always feels like my hands are going to slip off with foam grips😂
