Foam Crafting a Custom Shield to commemorate my Grandfather
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How do you deal with loss and grief? My grandfather recently passed away and I have been struggling a bit. To help myself process things, and commemorate his life into something I can see daily, I built a shield about my grandfather. This build is for you Pappy. Love you. For this build, I used: 10 mm, 6 mm, 4 mm, and 2 mm EVA foam, contact cement, Plasti Dip, spray paint, and acrylic paints You may also need the following tools: a rotary tool with various bits, wood burner, a heat gun, and an Exacto knife or box cutter. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see more like this one, from shows, video games, or whatever. Please smack that like button, dropkick subscribe, and share with as many people as possible.

Thanks so much. The great thing about creativity is that the more you use, the more you have. Creativity inspires creativity. Being open and raw for the world to see definitely makes me vulnerable and self-conscious, but mentally, I feel a release that makes it worth it.
I know the pain and heartache you're going through all too well - my maternal grandmother passed away April 1, 2022, and my father passed away September 29th of last year. My grandmother was 97; my father would've been 73 in October last year. We had a celebration of my father's life in November. I made a cover for the plastic urn his ashes were in; I built it from EVA foam, with faux tiles and faux wood panels on the sides - he was a tile setter, and he loved working with wood; cutting and splitting firewood, building a log hunting cabin, hunting, or just driving his four-wheeler through the woods. On the top I added his name, dates of birth and leaving this plane, and a phrase he said often - "No more job talk."

We just have to cherish the moments we have and be present with our time together. Thanks for sharing your creativity to commemorate your loss as well. We need those reminders.

I'm truly sorry for your loss Thomas... That is a beautiful commemorative badge, your pappy would be proud of you... That guitar your pappy played, an early 50s model Gibson F model, yes? My dad, now me, had had a 1934F guitar. He sorta taught me to play guitar. Now I'm back in to try playing guitar, banjo, and ukulele... My dad was also in the navy, Korean conflict in the mid 50s... God called him home in Sept. 2011... I miss him too

I was always entertained seeing my grandfather pull out his guitar and harmonica. He was also a really good singer, too. Realizing that he never learned how to read music and was able to do all of it from memory just blew my mind. Just a few of his many talents. Thanks for the condolences, my friend. Here's to our legendary kin.👊🫶
