FNH 473 Video 1: Introduction to Health Behaviour Theories
FNH 473: Nutrition Education in the Community is a public health nutrition course in the Food, Nutrition and Health (FNH) program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Students in this class actively learn and apply theories and methods related to nutrition education and health promotion.
In this video, I present an overview of health behaviour theories -- an essential part of health promotion program planning! The 'Health Belief Model' is discussed in detail, as an example of one popular health behaviour theory. Enjoy!
This video was made possible through financial support provided by UBC students via the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (tlef.ubc.ca). Thank you!

Great video, I wasn't in class when these theories were taught. This is going to help me finish my assignment. You did an amazing job.
Great informative video intro to health behaviour theories. I recommend replaying it a few times and taking notes to full understand the concepts. Thank you Candice :)
Great video Dr. Rideout! Very nice examples of the application of health behavior theory to real life health issues!
Very calming voice, relevant information! Helped a lot, thank you.
This video has really opened my eyes!
Simple and engaging! Please post more videos on different theories!
One of the very influencing and effective academic video I have ever seen in youtube. Authentic contents, pronouncing tone, visual materials, animation and academic weight are some key features of this video. Dear Candice Rideout, accept hearty thanks from Nepal...I expect other such videos that could be very useful for the educators like me....

Hi. Thanks for the video which introduces Health Behaviour Theories (HBT) in such an easy narrative that makes us understand the Health Belief model. However, I request you to post more videos on other theories related to HBT.
Thank you soooooo much. I have learned so much about the Health Belief Model from you presentation. You have a veryeasily understandable way of presenting the material. I am watching from Kabarak University in Nakuru County Kenya. I look forward to receiving future videos

Does anyone have a reference for the diabetes risk perception study? I can find similar ones but not that precise one.
Amazing
Well explained
Hi. Great video! Could you tell me where a model and an approach can be distinguised? They both seem to be the same for me! Thanks in advance! :)
Thank you for this video tutorial!

Its a bit creepy tho but excellent video!
@candicerideout1334 do you offer online tuition
Lately, I have not been feeling quite myself. I live on the internet, which is to say, I am a NEET living in my parents’ basement. In my online persona I pretend that I am ironically pretending to be a NEET living in my parents’ basement, but I am one in actual fact. I believe we are living in the cyberpunk dystopia and it’s way less metal than everyone thought it would be.
It's a good video, but the comparison with drinking milk for calcium is not very science based. I haven't consumed any dairy products for 1 1/2 years now and a recent blood test showed that my calcium levels are completely normal and I have never taken a single calcium pill. Also recent studies have shown that a huge amount of the calcium in milk can't even be absorbed by the human body.

Maybe you’ve discovered this by now, but serum calcium is very rarely tied to dietary calcium unless you have some kind of malabsorption or underlying disease. Your body regulates calcium in your blood very tightly because otherwise you’d die pretty quickly. Without dietary calcium, you just draw calcium from your bones instead, which eventually can lead to more brittle bones. Moral of the story, normal blood calcium does not suggest you don’t need to eat calcium. It is more reflective of a lack of some kind of disease that can perturb calcium levels.
