My theory is that Sonic was caught off guard, I don't care if you are invincible, if you are not focus, your defenses will be lowered. Knuckles being the guardian of the master emerald knows better than Sonic or shitty ass yellow rat how chaos energy works, so he knew that a good focused punch would force the emeralds out of super Sonic. That or maybe knuckles can predict when Sonic was running out of rings IDK.. super Sonic may be invincible but needs rings to keep the transformation up, and damage can reduce his ring count in some games right?

This is actually super charming. Great job to the devs.

The character designs look so amazing. The expressions are amazing. This mod was so cool.

It is canon but it only shows in the manuals, i belive 06 does show Sonic doing a sniff before almost falling in the jingle stage, i have no good memory and i really don't that he did that oficially until it was show on some manuals scans. Sorry, i do not Noe where it is told that Sonic can predict danger whit a sniff.
