I had a lucky find of getting one for less than $100 at a local pawn shop. The pistol was in pieces thrown in a box with a red tag that said "broken, $110", but I knew enough about the gun to know that what i was being told was broken wasn't (RSA). There is no RSA with this design it uses the barrel to guid the recoil sping, and both looked fine. I did notice that it was missing the barrel nut/barrel bushing, aside from that it appeared to me to be in good condition. I talked him down to $80 and started a background check. The shop owner said i would need to sign a safty waiver when i told him i was going to fix, and fire the pistol. Before the background check was back i had put the little pistol back together, only slowed down by the safty/striker mechanics. Shop owner seen that i had it together all except for the barrel bushing that was in fact missing and he said i "got him!" Turns out i got him good. The pistol is possibly a late first year production, probably an early second year production, at least from research i have done, and what the old timers on gunboards have told me. This is mainly do to my pistol having only a 4 digit serial #! Even the second year production pistol that killed Archduke Ferdinand is a 5 digit serial # pistol. Mine is in great condition, has never jammed, and after $35 for a new barrel nut i have just a little over $100 in it! I even still have the red "broken" tag that was on it because i knew my buddies wouldn't believe me about the story lol. And the shop owner didn't make me sign the insurance waiver in the end.

I watched this first on Patreon and then again on YT. What a beautiful pistol and great history lesson. You went so in-depth and I appreciate that. The most amazing thing to me is that these pistols were so finely-crafted that they still shoot great today!

I'm from Belgium, here they cost between 100 and 300 euros and you can easily find them.

I have the 1922 FN with Nazi markings. Replaced the springs and had to get a reproduction mag. It’s great to own this alongside my 1940 Mauser made Luger my dad brought home from WWII.

I have the model 1922 too, from my grandfather. He was a sheriff from 1948 - 1970...not sure how he acquired it. I used it in my early concealed carry days, back in the late 90s. Not ideal, but I was a young dad at the time, working a late-night pizza delivery gig.

I've got an FN 1922 in .32 ACP that my grandpa passed onto me. Longer than the 1910, but otherwise the same gun. It's superb!! Very first .32 pistol I ever shot. Took it out to the range a few months back. Put 100 rounds of Norma 73 grain FMJ .32s with zero malfunctions.

I love those old metal guns.

The FN M1910 that was used to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand is on display at the museum of military history in Vienna, Austria. They also have the car he was riding in (with bullet holes) and the blood stained uniform he was wearing. I've been to the museum myself and can highly recommend it if you ever visit Vienna.

Thank you! I own one. Brought back from WW2 by my uncle who was in the 3rd. Army. Given to my Father and now mine. The beauty of this pistol is the side safety. I can carry this pistol chambered. It is extremely fast. I will never carry a Glock chambered. Next up , double action autos... I am comfortable carrying these, the only drawback is the hammer and trigger pull. Funny how this safety on the side of the Browning was never incorporated in modern pistols. I do own a Browning 22 Target Pistol that has the side thumb safety. Circa 1976. Thanks!

Machinists were highly trained professionals. My bro made 4 years practiceship in precision mecanic in the late 70, before CNC. These guys were cosidered the aristocracy of blue collars.

Looks like you’re missing a part - the “Firing Pin Spring Follower / Guide” that fits into the back of the firing pin spring. Great video!

Someone just gifted me one of these that came from a hoarding house. It must have been in the garage there for 20-30 years, at least. It's a Browning model made in Belgium. There's just a speck of rust on the slide and a tiny bit on the frame, other than that it looks new almost. There was 1 mag and it has some rust. I haven't brought it to the range yet. I did clean it and oil it really well. Might take it there next weekend and see what happens.

Sootch, have you ever shot a Savage model 1907? If you like the FN you should like the Savage. It is an unique gun and fun to shoot. I have a couple of them and like shooting them.

My Colt 1908 Vest Pocket is my favorite fun gun.

Gavrilo Princip. Princip was the man who intentionally shot and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Yes he used an FN 1910 - .380 ACP caliber was what I read. Actually the gun had very little choice in the matter. What is commonly called the 'Baby Browning" first saw light as the FN (Fabrique Nationale) 1931. It was an updated version of the FN 1906 pistol. It was NOT referred to as a 'Browning' with Browning markings and such until roughly 1955 when the Browning Corporation (of John M. Browning's work) began selling guns. The same is true of the Browning High-Power and the shotguns. Prior to that time all the Browning designs sold in the United States were made and marketed by Colt.

I have one made in 1958 I considered that a great find. I do see them at gun shows but really high priced

A friend has one in .32acp and he has a barrel for the .380 which he said used the same mag. as the .32. He knows quite a bit about these little pistols.

Ok so does it have an internal hammer or it's striker fired?

@11:36 Fiocchi makes some of the best .32 ACP…very high quality, but it’s getting harder to find . Whenever I see it , I purchase for my Colt 1903 pistol.

Can't beat a classic!

One of those (FN 1910) was stolen from my house in July (my safe was bolted to the floor and they used something to pry it loose). If you see the gun turn up for sale in SW Missouri or NW Arkansas, please call the police. The left grip panel is broken and the serial number is 345748. The same thief also stole a Taurus Millenium Pro 32, Savage 1905, CZ P-07 and P-09, Zastava M70, Ruger LCP 22, and a Kel-tec p32. The Kel-tec is grey with a black slide, is in a brown leather Bullseye holster and has a steel guide rod. It has been in the holster so long the leather has miscolored the gun. The burglars names were Skyler Isaacs and Devon Schouten. They sold the FN, Savage and Taurus to a latino named Benjin who has since sold them to someone else.

I inherited a Spanish copy by Bufalo, made in 1919. Of course, I had to shoot it... one side of the grips broke, sadly. It was having some failures, even with a new mag, but now it's just a cool little piece of history.

Dude has a 380. Can tell via the bore. The .380 version did all three in. Colt didn't need to produce it. They had the 1908 Pocket Hammerless in .380

What happened to the Lyman trigger gauge from Brownells?

Bought one of these, liked everything but grip angle and lack of a home for my pinky. Sold it, bought a lcp MAX, liked everything but the accuracy. Sold it, bought a Bersa Thunder Combat Plus. Liked everything but the reliability. Then I found a Remington Model 51 from 1919, which brought me back full circle. So it took four different gun purchases to find something perfected 104 years ago. The ergonomics are the best I have felt on any handgun ever, everything is smooth, slick, solid steel, shaped strangely enough just like a human hand, including all the fingers and everything. It may be old, with tiny little sights, but it points as naturally as breathing. It may only hold eight rounds, but it is reliable enough to feed a broad spectrum of loads, and put them in a hand sized group at 7yds. It is light enough to carry all day without noticing. Just a perfect little pocket pistol. The 1910 and Model 51 were direct competitors, but the Browning design proved more popular than the Pederson, which I cannot really understand. Seems like the best kept secret in firearms history.

The disassembly of it is a pain with slippery fingers. I’m sure they had to have made a long forgotten tool

I had one of these many years a go.. I used it as a backup when I was in uniform with the Houston Police Dept. I also carried it off duty and to court. In 1971 I sold it and purchased a Walther Model PP in 380 ACP. I still have the Walther and wished I had the Model 1910 back along with the Walther.

Correct me if im wrong. The only difference between the 32acp and 380 is the barrel . Uses the same mag. I slipped 380 in my 32 mag just to test fit and they fit. So im keeping an eye out for a 380 barrel. Spring could be different strength ?

Did you know the man that shot archduke Ferdinand was funded and encouraged by the British Crown? The German fleet had begun to eclipse the power of the British fleet. The Crown wanted to fight the Germans sooner rather than later when the British navy might be outclassed. We put sanctions on Japan for similar reasons. They were building more powerful battleships than the USA. Those sanctions led to Japanese aggression.

I’ve wanted a Browning/FN model 1910, to complement my Colt model 1903 pocket hammerless pistol. However it’s actually kind of hard to find one in original configuration. Many 1910s were remanufactured as the FN Model 1910/1922 or 10/22. They have longer barrels and longer frames to be more of a full size duty pistol vs concealed detective pistol .
