FN 503 - Subcompact 9mm
Ойын-сауық
Larry takes a look at the FN 503, FN's entry into the world of Subcompact 9mms. With some interchangeable components and the same build quality as the rest of the FN 509 family, FN is aiming for this to be a strong contender in the booming Micro-Compact market. I own several FN. This isn't my favorite. But I bought it for concealment. It sits very close to my body. I'm 6' so my hands prefer the 8 round mag. But I can work the 6 round. Considering what it is meant for. It does it's job.
Considering these types of guns sell like crazy right now...I'm sure FN will sell a boat load of them! They are a little late to the game..but probably a smart business decision. A lot of FN fans out there! Thank you LAV for everything you do! ✌️

Going to order this tonight. Have the fns40c and really want this for better concealment. Thanks for the straight to the point video.
FN makes some good weapons .I have a FNS9C, and love it. I like the new 503.Hope to find one to buy.Always enjoy,and respect your videos.
Looks like it offers everything you need for a CC subcompact and nothing more. As long as the price point is friendly, ergonomics are acceptable and material quality is up to the usual FN standards, then this will be a competitive offering that only adds to the viable options on the market. This is looking like a brand-name handgun option. Good move from FN to get this out there. More options are always appreciated. Great review as always. Brief, informative and engaging.
Hey this is the pistol that Jaime just got as a gift from Tim Kennedy.
It's a cool pistol. So many manufacturer's came out with small size single stack polymer guns after Walther introduced the first variant of the PPS.
I've got a Walther PPS in 40 cal and I have been very pleased with it. This one is pretty sweet!!

Little late to the game on this one FN. P365XL and hellcat has you beat.. however, the FN 509C Tactical is FANTASTIC! It’s my EDC

Larry needs to do a video for the G48 MOS with those 15 round mags.
Seems like a really cool tiny gun! Looks like it has pretty mild recoil and a nice trigfer pull. The 6 round mag is reasonable for personal protection, anything more than 6 shots and you have a serious problem.
I’m hoping you read this is there anyway to put a light on the 503 I just bought one and I was curious to know if there was an adapter piece in order to put a light like a TLR7 on it
Dam bro your a marksman. I see that group your putting out. 🇺🇸💪💙💚❤
This gun reminds me of the sig p290. The trigger on the 503 looks dao I like them for pocket carry in a pocket holster but I think FN is a little tardy to the party 🥳
I bought the FN 503 two days ago. This video played a part in that purchase decision. Thanks Larry.

I’m selling mines. I carry with one in the chamber. So when I get home to put my 503 in my safe. I clear my gun before doing so. When you press the magazine release to drop the magazine a bullet immediately falls out before ejecting the round that’s in the chamber. That’s a big problem for me and it happens not just once here and there, it’s literally every time.

@@jessei.rivera2389 I'm sorry to hear. I think it is the magazine's fault, and it could be the design for the sub compact in general. It has happened to me too. I should talk to FN about it, and perhaps switch to the Walther PPS M2. Have you sold your gun?

At my work we sell tons of S&W Shields, both 1.0 and 2.0's over P365's and Hellcats. While objectively I believe that the P365 and Hellcat are better guns sometimes it comes down to whats in a somebody's wallet. If the FN is priced accordingly, it will do ok. Hell, people still buy Glock 43's and they were also a good but higher in cost than many other single stacks at the time and now they're about on par in pricing with P365's and Hellcats.
@Glonk_Respecter
3 жыл бұрын
Christopher you’re right, if FN can get the price down in the $300 range like the shield then it will do ok, but if it’s on the higher end of other pistols in its class I don’t see why someone wouldn’t go 365, hellcat, or even 43x.
@Predalien195
3 жыл бұрын
@@Glonk_Respecter Well let's say it runs like $499. That's Glock prices and the FN name still carries weight behind it. A lot of people are my work as about FN's and no doubt we'd sell them at that price over Glock 43's and even 43X's. We'd still sell Shields purely based on cost factor alone at my work. But like I said, while objectively I think it's worse it overall would still do well.
@chrismaverick9828

One thing to remember is that most encounters are supposedly over in three shots or less. That means you still have five more in the FN, and seven to ten more in the P365. If you want more rounds, that's great, but how many are you going to use, and how many do you need before you stop feeling "under-gunned"? If you can handle the 365 or Hellcat, great! The difference between the feel and carry of a single-stack that is slightly larger than a competing smaller double can be an issue for some. Both are fine platforms, I don't think there is an issue with either one. Neither was designed for extended shootouts. Truth is that we live in a time where the market is so flooded with options that it is difficult to make a choice. At the end of the day, finding what works and is comfortable for you is all that matters. And shot placement. Shot placement always matters more than round count.
Nice small thing for backup
With the sexy lines & styling of the 509 & the innovation with the optics mounting from FN, I was really looking for something more out of this gun... give it some front cocking serrations, an optics plate, a rail and a stack n’ a half mag & you’d have something that would compete with the bigger players, but this is just adding to the crowd
It may be soft shooting with target ammo, but how does it fare with warm defensive ammo? That's what matters.
Academy is selling the FDE for $299. $320 out the door if you use the Academy card
How hard is it to mount a red dot on the 503?

Industry and professionals, "red dots, lights, capacity and still very concealable". FN, "we made a Sig P290 striker fired"
To say that "a lot of the guns in this class are brutal to shoot" is a bit of a stretch. While some of the older offerings, Kahr, Keltec, Ruger to name a few were snappy in this size, the Glock, SIG, M&P and Springfield offerings are quite soft shooting for the size.
