FN really went after the design of another Well made gun which is very similar and that is the Beretta Nano, a much under rated firearm. This gun is slightly heavier. Like the Nano it is very mild to shoot. Solid build like the Nano and take down with the modular design. The FN is a nice gun for sure. I loved shooting it. If it holds up like my Nano, (now over 15,000 rds) and I'm sure it will, it will be a true winner. I prefer the DAO design of the Nano (like Kahr) but if others want more of a striker fired gun, then they should look at the FN. I ownd the 365 for example as well as other Micro 9'mm but stick with the Single stacks. Actually sold the 365. Bravo to FN.

My FNX-9 pointed me to the 503. I bought an FDE 503, ran 200 rds out of the gate and haven't looked back. Surprisingly little recoil for a Micro, so much so my wife bought one for herself. She stepped up from a .380 to the 503 for her Daily. The holster, I chose the Desantis Tuck II, very comfortable, all day.

I recently picked up a 503 and I LOVE it. My only gripe is I have trouble loading the magazines, but that may be my somewhat arthritic hands. It's recoil is surprisingly tame for such a small gun. EDIT The takedown and reassembly procedure was a bit of a problem for me initially, so I sat and practiced that several times. Now it's as easy as any other handgun I've dealt with.

5:43 That's a very high bore axis for a striker-fired pistol. There is no provision for a manual safety. The 503's bigger brother, the 509, IS available with manual safety but FN just decided not to offer that in the US. With the 503 it's not even an option. I like options :)

@@babyblue8214 For me, I need a manual safety for those times when the gun is OUT of my hands, like when I'm carrying it in a holster, or storing it in a safe, etc. When I'm not shooting it I like to flip a switch to turn it off, like when I'm done driving I don't want the engine kept idling. How's more training gonna help with that? :)

Jus bought one yesterday and it kept jamming. The gun wouldn’t eject the shell casing so the bullet that was trying to get loaded was getting stuck behind the shell casing inside the gun. And sometimes when I cock it I have to hit the back of the slide to fully engage the bullet. Any idea what it could be?

I bought the SCCY CPX2 a year or so ago, and was amazed at the machining quality. Entirely made in-house in America. People who question Double-Action-Only pistols would be astounded how light and smooth that long consistent trigger pull really is! Great gun! Nothing safer for pocket carry. On sale it was two hunnert out the door............................elsullo

@@elsullo2 I take back everything I said. My SCCY started to malfunction after about 60 rounds and it kept jamming every other round. I sent it in to get fixed. A month later same problem. I'm really disappointed with SCCY. The machining quality indeed was really good the trigger was easily the best trigger I've ever felt on a hand gun and honestly I think it looks pretty cool. But I upgraded. I think SCCY is still a growing company so they have more in store. We'll see what the future holds for them. They had to start somewhere and I think for price there's nothing better. It's a fantastic first hand gun but just like anything it's far from the best. If I could do it all over again I'd spend the extra money and just buy something a little better like a Ruger or Taurus.

Great video, but personally, not a fan of those triggers, nor semi's for that matter. In this video it looked like you had a bit of trouble braking down this pistol for cleaning. In an emergency, you may only have a split second to take out your pistol, remove a safety, if equipped, and get the correct grip on the gun in order to negate the safety on that type of trigger. If your finger lands too high, the safety block will not permit you to fire. Just give me an ol' reliable snub nose double action revolver for up close and personal. I have no intentions of getting into a shootout with someone across, or down, the street, so 5 or 6 rounds will be fine for me. I pray to God I never have to use a gun in self defense. But if I do, I want it to work correctly when it counts, just point and squeeze the trigger. Simple.

If I'm limited to less than 10 rounds certainly a 6+1, not counting the 8-round magazine because it gives you a full size grip which is beyond stupid, I want something more substantial than 9mm. Especially in such a tiny barrel, talk about anemic in every way.

Yeah, your situation isn't most peoples. People that probably buy this gun have several carry options like I do. Something for ankle, pocket, or ultra low profile. I'll carry my USP .40 Custom Combat open carry if I want fire power with 16+1. This is just another option in the wheel house for free state residents.

FN makes quality firearms, BUT they're late to the single stack game AND that capacity is not good for a gun of that size. Sig and Springfield have figured out 10rd+ flush-fit magazines. Glock is notoriously lazy and leaves their after-market to figure things out (like Shield Arms). I'm sure it looks like a great pistol otherwise.

Now Apex tactical is making a after market firing pin? That should tell you something! A gun that cost 600 to a 1000 should not have a problem this far in production! I would not risk my life on any of these models that they sale. Research!!
