    Great review! I have owned one for about a year. Good to see they are back in stock after quite a few months. Getting those latches secure is very important. I actually forgot the wing tube once. Took off and immediately noticed that I had dihedral, and quite a bit. Very gently flew the pattern and landed. No damage, but if the latches had not been secure I think a wing would have separated. A DIY launch is intimidating, but a little setup trick makes it a snap. First, turn on Safe to make sure no rolling at launch. Set up flaps as follows: 1 - flaps up for normal flight. 2 - flaps down 5 degrees and a touch of up elevator. 3 - full flaps and required elevator for approach and landing. As long as you launch into the wind and at full 6s power this gives a flat initial departure that quickly turns into a gentle and stable climb as speed builds. Then it's out of Safe and flaps up. A gentle toss will do it. Speed builds quickly. You are right about rudder. Those ailerons are way out on the wings, thus tons oof adverse yaw. That's what sailplanes do. One I flew would almost not turn at all unless the turn initiated with rudder. I did slip nicely with just ailerons though! Takes up almost no room in my car. I have custom wing bags that I lay on top or stand on edge. FMS hit a home run with this one, and the price makes it a very good value.

    Love it! I realise the Fox is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none in the gliding world (which is why my Radian pro has a vario and is set up for soaring, my Phase 5e gets hooned and my Solius does a bit of everything) but it looks like an impressive mixture of abilities combined with very impressive scale. Those lovely howling noises ... mmmm ❤ Edit - nearly at the 10K sub mark. You were 1K when I subbed. The hard work is paying off!

I decided to go for the 2.3m Fox which is about as big as I can deal with - apart from everything being MUCH bigger, I think they both pretty much fly just as well as each other - a Friend of mine from the club has one it works well with a dolly, spare parts can be a little difficult to find here in the UK -but is is Imposing and heavy..... Nice video well flown - I love the sound it makes , it has so much POWER...

I´ll wait for part 2 with a low knife edge pass xD I was interested in this plane a couple of months ago but bought a Staufenbiel (Horizon) glasfibers 3,5m second hand and a FlyFly Hobby new kit of a Fox but in glasfibers with styro abachi wings. Hey Adam, nice video on this big girl 🙂 Small question regarding hand launches: do you use Safe for hand launching or do you turn everything off regarding stabilization ? How much % throttle do you use ? I have handlaunched more then 100 times with my sailplanes but have also destroyed 2 planes in launch because they just go straight up and then turnover to put the nose in the ground. Only two reasons that i can think of why this happens: both disaster launches were in Safe mode that made the plane climb too fast and second reason was that in both case there was very little wind to carry the plane.

  • @ModelAV8RChannel

    @ModelAV8RChannel

    Thanks Patrick! We are just a 15% throttle to up elevator mix. It's on a switch, it climbs out of my hands at full throttle, and I flip the switch off and go.

    Ahh, really depends on the perspective. They are equally capable, but the Fox is just so big and impressive. It is a bit smoother as you might expect being as big as it is. I guess it just depends on the budget and how big you want to go. Big is awesome to fly, but a bit more involved when it comes to storage and transport.

    @@ModelAV8RChannel Yeah, good points. Would be cool if they offered a BNF for people, (not that this kit isn’t easy enough). This aircraft is absolutely perfect for BNF & PNP. Your video(s) on the Fox made me buy this. You did a fantastic job reviewing and demo’ing it. It’s such an amazing and fun aircraft. I fly gliders, (ASK-21 & 23) in real life.. Which is a blast. We have a Fox at the Gliderport. It flys regularly. Made out of Poland specifically for aerobatics. Fun watching it fly. Just got into the big foamies about 2 years ago, never thought I’d buy a glider. This one has changed everything. Searching for and finding lift and thermals is a blast. The very powerful motor makes it even better.
