As an old timer who has always flown balsa and glow I have to admit that I really like my Super Cub.

I sold my turbo timber evo and got this Super Cub 1700 and I couldn’t be happier. This is much more forgiving to fly and made me look better as a pilot while landing it. I’m still learning and it took some hard hits with little to no damage, like a stall from 20’ to the nose into grass and it flew away kind of strength. This plane is awesome and I just bought a second. Definitely could be used as a beginner plane as I am a beginner and it feels awesome to grease a landing like this plane always tries to do. Do not overlook it!

Yep, good trainer, and certainly an option ...but there are better ones out there...like the 1220mm Ranger.

Fun fact, one of the best upgrades for this plane is the 1300mm Super Cub wheels that FMS sells. Gets rid of the rock hard tires and adds some grip to pavement, too. Nice flying, Adam!

Nice review of the PA-18 Super Cub 1700mm. I love mine, I have had it for a couple of years and it is the best for just a lazy afternoon of not thinking just flying and having a good time. It's nice that for a little bigger bush plane you can fly this one in a really small area. Thank you Adam and Heidi for showing off this great plane.

That is amazing as we both think alike Adam…. I know a father & young 8 yr old i have been mentoring at the beach & park as the family surf a lot & the boy loves flying little RC 400mm aircraft. I think i have convinced them to buy the Aeroscout RTF so he can then use the basic Spektrum radio. I have bound it with a buddy box on my DX9 & NX10 to allow him & dad to learn to fly at the park. Now you need to get Heidi in front of the camera with you instructing her & someone to film it…. Now that would make a informative video & allow the females to try flying. ( like Gina in the UK)

Well as you know one of my personal favourites the big PA-18 Super Cub!! And you did things with it that I could only dream of Lol I fly mine on a 4s 4000mah lipo but only get about 5 minutes, sadly Adam I feel that there is not much interest in it as it has been around quite a while now!! But I just love flying it, mine hasn't got the Reflex Gyro in it and I flew it a lot without a Gyro, but always felt it was a bit of a Handful in stronger winds!! So I ended up fitting a SAFE and AS3X Spektrum receiver, which made a big difference!! Great review and great filming and editing Heidi 😀👍

It is an awesome flyer Frank! Easy, but capable.

This is one sweet flying machine - absolutely nothing to dislike about it - I love mine as for the gyro - it really is not necessary - I guess they include it for beginners to feel "safe" with it - see what I did ...I use a 4500 45C 4S in mine without any issues at all.. It really is a dream machine - handles calm and slow or rough and fast - also quite good in wind... Very nice review - Makes me want to get another one LOL..... Oh wait I did the 1300mm Version ......

I do see what you did! Lol. Great airplane. I don't have a gyro in the one we painted like Greg Millers plane, but we used the one in this stock one because it came with it and it was a mini review (Quick Look/Fun Flight). When its calm, I can't tell a difference. I can fly it in wind either way, but it is noticeable that it doesn't get blown around as much with the gyro. Fun either way for sure.

I have one of these on floats. It is great fun at the lake.

I love this aircraft. Like most FMS planes their awesome to fly, the big Ranger being my favorite. As always Adam great job on the info for this plane. You guys are awesome in what you do for the RC community.👍

Got one we re-painted years ago with about 100 flights on it, but good to know. Welders cement will fix that right up, and be stronger than stock.

Nice flying demo during what is often my favorite time of the day. It sure looks like the kind of plane that can deliver a lot of 'fun flights'. It might have been interesting to add a bit more footage showing how she does on floats. Seems that several viewers have enjoyed her that way. Thanks - good stuff !

I love mine! I removed the Reflex unit from the outset and it's not needed in my opinion. Super relaxing to fly and perfect for lovely calm and warm evening flights.

Great plane for sure. It flies good either way, but when the wind picks up the gyro makes a difference. Probably will instill more confidence in newer pilots.

I have had this super cub for a long time now. It has always been a steal of a price for the size and that it came with floats. The only thing I changed was I put 7-inch Tundra Bush Wheels which are soft compared to the stock wheels. It is much more fun doing STOL landings on rocks or uneven hard ground with these wheels and tires. Too bad Tundra Wheels went out of business. :(

It is a great deal. We did a re-paint on one years ago and modified it into Greg Miller's Javron Cub (we have a video on that). We used the 5 in. Du Bro's on it. Carries that extra weight well, but I'm hoping for some soft, inflatable, light tires to come out. We need some like that. I have some Kavan's, but they are still hard as a rock. Du Bros are soft, but heavy.

My V1 Husky had a bit more power than the Cub on 4s, so the V2 on 6s should rock if that is what you're looking for.

I bought one of these a few years ago. The connections would not make on one wing as the plugs were misaligned. Goodness knows how as everything looked great. I have no quibble with FMS as things happen, even to good manufacturers. I do quibble with my retailer who demanded to know whether it was the fuselage or the wing at fault. Why not just recall this and send a new plane? Anyway, I used all my aeromodelling skills (close to zero) and determined it was the fuselage. I received a replacement and, you guessed it, same issue as it must have been the wing that faulty. Didn't look easy to butcher a fix and I was having a sense of humour critical failure so I rejected the whole thing for a refund. A mate sold me a Grand Tundra for almost nothing (also a nice bush plane) so that was the end of my time with the FMS one. Seeing your fun flight definitely justifies my initial purchasing decision! Every RC pilot needs a bush plane! 13:30 - love the Trent Palmer punch and flap drop STO!

Use a RID module. We do when we park fly. It isn't the big deal people make it up to be. You register it, put it in whatever plane you're flying that day, turn it on, and go fly. Pretty simple. And before you make this a big brew ha ha...look, I don't like RID anymore than anyone else. Recreational RC airplane pilots are not the issue. That said, as it turns out it is a heck of a lot easier to use them than we originally thought. We thought we'd have to have an app and file flight plans, get permission for a specific time slot...there's none of that.
