Neat to know you can get into space in this game. The more I watch you play it the more I want to play it. Kinda want to try to make a decently long range cargo VTOL that could carry an M1A1 tank.

if your flight was more shallow you could’ve reached faster speeds and you would’ve stayed in space for longer and it would’ve reduced the gees at the re-entry and the plane would’ve been more controllable during re-entry

With every video you make, I end up wanting this game more and more, it looks amazing!

When you said you weren't gonna plummet into the earth at mach 4 I balked at the KSP image in the thumbnail... then you detachable jet engines, and the Kraken was pleased.

I don't know why, but for some reason I kept waiting for this jet to start transforming into a robot, and started hearing something sounding like _"beautiful_ spread!" in the back of my mind...

I cant wait till flyout is released

I once had an idea for a plane that took the air with it to space but then I realized I just invented oxidizer.

Honestly this is my first time ever hearing or seeing anything about this game and I gotta say, this is one helluva first impression, I'm intrigued

We just gonna ignore, how this man, single handedly, built the most powerful human creation on the planet and in all of human history? No, not the most powerful engine, not the most powerful plane, the most powerful creation. Ever. Starship and the Space Launch System can't even hit mach 5 straight up, and those are the two most powerful rockets in the world.

Nah, there has been plenty of rockets that have extremely high thrust to weight ratios that can hit similar accelerations just fine. Puny modern sounding-rockets can do that just fine. Rockets like Starship, SLS or the Saturn V dont have those levels of acceleration for multiple reasons. In part because they're designed to avoid flattening the Jimmies riding them into pancakes, but more importantly because too high TWR isnt actually efficient at all to achieve orbit.

Try and see just how fast you can make a plane go in Flyout, do whatever you can to make the most powerful jet ever

you can actually get an orbit with airbreathing engines by rotating a middle section of the plane very fast and then releasing that rotation at apoapsis

I actually did the math on that - it works in KSP because orbital speed is much lower than a real life planet, but in flyout, where the planet is real sized? A 10 meter radius rotating section would need to spin at 7,000 RPM in order to launch to orbital velocity. Jimmy would have to pull over 500,000 G, and I know for a fact the game engine can't handle that (I've done a demonstrator for it once).

You can’t get a full orbit but you could probably glide a good ways around the planet if you entered space at a shallower angle

That’s a sick montage dude, awesome video once again! Maybe flyout should change name to spaceout? 🤔 Hope to see more of Jimmy’s space career! Maybe soon he’ll get a job at KSP or maybe even NASA. You could *theoretically* reach an orbit using air breathing engines if you could reach escape velocity within the atmosphere. You'd probably melt in the process but it's not technically impossible, that and you wouldn't be orbiting the body you took off from. You'd be orbiting whatever it was orbiting instead. Also the amount of atmosphere past 140km isn't negligible depending on the time scale. The ISS orbits at 400km altitude and still suffers from decay so it needs to boost itself using one of the attached spacecraft every month.

Video idea: make a flying boat. As in a flying battleship or something. Basically a boat with wings and whatever you want to put on it to kill something. Rules as follows: 1. It must function as a boat 2. It must be built to be boat first, not plane first 3. It must fly Hellicarrier is a great example to get you started.

you could theoretically not fall back to earth using an airbreathing engine you would just need to pick up enough speed(this is not realistic at all) that you either get far enough away for earths gravity to be irrelevant or more likely get a gravity assist off something like the moon to pull you into orbit

5:19 is proof enough that jeb is a better pilot. My man can go interplanetary without a single instrument or any contact with ground control.

Can flyout be turned into an stl or stp file after creating a plane? I use inventor to make planes but it gets complicated and difficult, this’d make it a lot easier since it is literally made for that. Also im a big fan of your videos, keep up the good work!

I wounder what would happen if you reached even higher speeds, as you could get a orbit if the moon was close enough but that would be to far out.

as you will gather from my question, i have no idear about airplane engines, but... can´t an aircraft not just hold the air the engine needs inside the plane? and have it feed it to the engine as it is needed?
