According to Lacey in her documentaries for her book "The Reason", one of the reasons she left was due to the fact she got married and had a son, and made the hard decision of stepping down from Flyleaf to devote her life to her family. Also, the last tour the band had with her, their sound manager passed away. I love Flyleaf and always will, and Lacey was truly talented and her passion for God and music will always resonate within Flyleaf.

From my understanding of the video and song, The little girl parents left her at a young age so she didn't have the nurture, care and love that she needed. She has this yearning to feel loved, so she becomes VERY promiscuous to try to find it in men, but they only wanted her for her body and leave her. She knows there is something missing in her but she can't doesn't know what it is , so she falls further and further into her dark path of lovers and she's finally had enough and took a leap of faith for Jesus and it freed her from her sorrow.

I love this! However, I always thought it was because she got married at 18 to a man that she didn't feel happy with and felt like something was missing in her marriage. Then they got a divorce when she was 21. She's mentioned it plenty in her interviews, and immediately I thought of this song! But I could be wrong of course. Still, that was a beautiful way to interpret it :)

I was looking through some comments and saw that people thought she committed suicide. This album has a TON of symbolism in it. It wasn't suicide. She didn't even die. She was swimming. The jump represents leaving captivity (the ship) and swimming in the water represents washing away her past mistakes. Like a new start, a clean slate. It's not suicide. A lot of this is actually symbolism.

I'll always have a love for flyleaf - I started listening to their music a while before I became a committed Christian. I always felt an inexplicable peace whenever I listened to their music. Then it was months after I started going to church that I realised they were kingdom people too. I love that they're a metal/hard rock band that's not afraid to proclaim their love for Jesus :-)

A flurry of vocal emotions, backed up by Christians who love what they do and know who they're doing it for is just unbearable. This song broke my heart. Just thinking about my life without God is unfathomable. He is so good to his people, he loves us no matter what we do or where we go, or how many times we reject him. He's always there. I thank flyleaf for reminding us about how good our God is and how without him, there truly would be something missing in our lives. Thank you Flyleaf.

I saw the queen Swam out below her star on sea beneath Though I lifted up my hands to her She never lifted me Oh, something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone Found something sweet On the island with the daughters of eve But through thick and thin they've gone away And only left their grief Oh, something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone Something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone Something's missing in me Something's missing in me Down here, love wasn't meant to be It wasn't meant to be for me Down here, love wasn't meant to be It wasn't meant to be for me (all is vanity, underneath the sun, all is vanity) Oh, something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone Something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone Something's missing in me

If many thought of God as creator. Scientist, artist, musician well, pretty much everything. In the Bible it mentions that sorcery is condemmed. Sorcery is the use of black mirrors to summon demons and look up the past. Back in the days sorcery would be considered putting spells on many by means of deception. Words and looks is deception. Today, it's called psycology. It's used in music, acting, advertising well, pretty much everything. Many choose to follow the wrong things instead of follow the right things and by doing so become a money maker for many corupt entities who have pocketed much and conducted illegal activities on the taxpayers dime. At least with Lacy's music she is making money but, the difference is she is not misleading anyone. Unfortunately, many follow like sheep straight to the slaughter house. The whole entire time you all could have been well off with benefits, financially secured for many generations if done right, been better educated and persued your dreams and passions in life. Instead, many are slaves to corperations who comply with corperate rules and the same ones making the rules are the same ones breaking the rules. Many still have not learned much since day one. Life was created to be simple but, many enjoy making it complicated . There are many betrayers and deceivers who betrayed and deceived for a little greed and the whole entire time you all could have had so, much more. Still don't listen, still don't heed warnings, still play the blame game, many want to commit crimes but, don't want to take responsibility for actions. Many chances have been given and still given a chance. You watch movies about the end of the world and all corperations being destroyed. Instead of destroying the corperations you can actually use the corperations. There is a peaceful and legal way of doing things. Don't even need a corupt lawyer or a corupt judge who are government employees who have committed many acts of treason, crimes against humanity and many felonies on the taxpayers dime. This is what happens when you have secret societies of both men and women run the show. If a few would have listened, heeded warnings, taken responsibility, not played the blame game, listened to others in the past and listened to Jesus well, everything you see here today would have been quite different and you all could have had so much more. With great knowledge comes great responsibility. Many have been given knowledge to only end up abusing it in the name of greed. It's not used to harm others and there are always consequences. Jesus has been the only one to past all the tests.

I hope you have healed and continue to heal, my best wishes . ❤️ On another random note. I actually believe that black Americans are actually native Americans. Hispanics are a mix of black, mongoloids who crossed the bering straight, Spanish, and also the other light and dark skinned people living in the Americas. There wasn't just one type of Native American like they told us. There were blacks, Asians(look at the Alaskans), people who looked like the natives we see today except they were darker with a purer blood line. Also a lot of the tribes were already mixed before colonialism. Google Aboriginal Hawaiian. They were dark af with fros. They look more like Asian aboriginals than a half Asian/half black people. Just because their hair is so tightly coiled. Mixed people usually have a larger curl pattern. But most modern day Hawaiians have a lot more light skinned ancestry now. Sorry I find genetics and ancestry FASCINATING. And I think it is actually more important than people understand.

I've read that Lacey is gay but has suppressed it a lot with her faith. That could just be a false rumor, but the first time hearing this song, the lyrics really seem to paint a picture of a girl who's been heartbroken by a lot of women, and coupled with the teachings of her religion making her struggle with and feel ashamed of her sexuality, it tells a tragic story of succumbing to that pressure and choosing to find love in God and renouncing her true self. As a gay person it really is obvious to me. "I lifted my hands to her, she never lifted me."..."Found something sweet...with the daughters of eve". That just seems to detail her time dating women and getting heartbroken by them and also feeling ashamed of herself. Anyway, it's a beautiful and very bittersweet song especially when you view it that way.

So I love this song but I'm just now realizing (pretty sure) this song is about her "overcoming" her homosexuality, something she's openly talked about. "I saw the queen, Swam out below her star on sea beneath, Though I lifted up my hands to her, She never lifted me" "Found something sweet, On the island with the Daughters of Eve, But through thick and thin they've gone away, And only left their grief" The strict use of female figures and the pretty provocative reference to Eve and her "daughters" on an island providing something "sweet" seems to be talking about the pleasures and sexual satisfaction she experienced with female lovers, but never feeling fulfilled or stable in these relationships by saying "she never lifted me", the last half of the second verse, and of course the chorus: "Oh, something's missing in me, I felt it deep within me, As lovers left me to bleed alone" She probably felt let down, betrayed, or abandoned in her relationships that happened to be with girls, but attributed that pain from these specific relationships as meaning something is just inherently wrong with lesbianism at the root level hence "somethings missing in me, I felt it deep within me" because ones sexuality is very definite, you feel it deeply, and if you begin to think somethings wrong about it then you internalize it. Maybe to her, what was "missing" was a relationship with god, a christian life, which means women are to be with men, and this was all meant to be in place of her gay lifestyle and sexuality. Idk it makes me sad that she struggled this way and came to the ultimate conclusion she did, but if shes truly happy...

oh and further more, in the video it shows captions of "she falls" "she falls further still" maybe insinuating that she was falling deeper into "sin" and the depression she felt as a result from such. And then at the end it's her seeming to jump from the boat to take her own life with the captions "her path becomes clear" "she frees herself" but she doesn't die, she happily swims in the waters. In her real life she had contemplated suicide, in the midst of these thoughts she visited a church where someone spoke gospel or scripture to her and she "took a leap of faith" as she has put it and committed herself to her new faith and that that is what saved her life. Maybe she was depressed and suicidal from her internalized struggle with her sexuality based on all the failed and unpleasant experiences with other girls, and her "path" became Christianity and to "free herself" was to abandon her gay lifestyle. In that way her suicidal thoughts were a "blessing in disguise" as some would say because it was what lead her to her "rebirth" as she thinks of it, hence the jump off the boat turning from a depiction of suicide to a happy and wholesome ending.
