Both morning and evening routines have always been a challenge. Thank you for these videos. What I have found is working for me is I put everything I use i.e. Toothbrush and toothpaste, face wash, eye drops and medication etc. into one basket I keep in my bathroom cupboard. When it's time to do these I pull the basket out take everything out of the basket and as I use it put it back in the basket....I don't have to search for everything. Sorry this is so long 😊

The toughest one for me is the evening routine, because by the time I get around to it I am so drained! So for now, I will be focusing on my morning routine... Even though I KNOW the evening routine will have the most impact....baby steps!

7:30 here in Michigan and my morning routine is done! I work from home and have been slacking on the routine. It really helped me be less frazzled and I feel like I accomplished something already. Coffee "Cheers" to starting the day on a positive and calm note... Yay! Thanks Diane for this challenge idea:)

I have been on flylady on and off since 2007. I love how your videos bring it to life and make the ideas more exciting. I really struggle with the routines, I seem to move really slow with them. But I tune in to your videos and it helps! Today I dressed to shoes though I didn't feel like it but I feel better now that I have. I started laundry, cleaned bathroom sink and shower.

Hi Diane! love this! I have just rebooted the 31 babysteps for the third time - sigh - while I keep decluttering as regularly as possible, for me the real challenge is to set up routines while the house is so FULL of stuff that needs to be decluttered. But I will accept the challenge and work on a very simple evening routine. The two major things I have noticed really change a lot in my day are going to bed early the night before (when I manage to sleep, not always the case, quite insomniac) and having my outfit layed out for the day after. Two more things would be a 2min hotspot of the bedroom and taking the time to prepare for bed before a crash, to slowly get into that rhythm. See you tomorrow! xxx

Decades ago I started studying for a degree whilst working full time. I had to learn new priorities and all I could take from was looking after myself and my home. Taking from them became a habit, and then followed years of CHAOS and stress. With the help of your videos - yes I am a visual learner - I am changing again. So I now say to myself ‘I am allowed to do this' and 'I should be doing this'. It’s a wonderful feeling and I am enjoying it so much. Thank you Diane and Fly Lady.

Back from Denmark in cold grey Germany, missing the sea, struggling with unpacking and finding a home for everything, I found your video, just before I slipped my newest routine, 'born' in the holidays;-)...laying out my clothes for tomorrow. What I did during my long working years faded away after retiring...I don't have an early meeting every day now, but IF I have, chaos can knock me out, if I'm not prepared. After some 'deep thinking' (=deep cleaning my brain;-)) I noticed: my evening routine is all in all much worse than the morning routine. So I will work on this. Going to bed at a decent hour included...thank you, dear, for this idea❣Enjoy your morning bath, Monika

Oh I am so glad for this challenge. I finished my 31 babysteps 8 days ago and have felt like I needed some more structure before taking on much else. I do the morning routine no problem, afternoon routine kind of, the evening routine not so good. I am a homemaker and simply feel like everything is just great with the house, I do keep my sink shining but tend to skip the other pieces at night consistently. This thing has changed my life and I am so comfortable with it I put off the evening part. Thank you for keeping me motivated. I will check in tomorrow!!

Once again the timing of this video is uncanny for me. Today I got up and buckled down to my morning routine, with the resolve that I was going to stick to this routine all week! I accept the challenge except for me it will have to be a 6 day challenge because the marathon race day is on the 7th day! I will be up at 2am to take a shuttle in the dark to the race start... suffice it to say I will miss my morning routine that day... I also think it will help me to stick to routines and simple cleaning tasks as best I can this week because it helps with gaining a feeling of control when there is so much to be anxious over the upcoming race - so much out of my control! Thanks for doing this challenge. xo

Diane, I'm a newcomer to your channel and the Flylady programme and I am loving your videos. They make it so clear. I started the babysteps seven days ago and am managing to stick to them quite well. Although I already had a kind of evening and morning routine, I'm finding it interesting to add new things into them to make life easier and less chaotic. I am finding that it does make a big difference to the house and life in general to keep to my routines, so I will be joining in with your challenge this week. I did have a bit of a wobble over the weekend with regard to the evening routine, but that was due to a late night. I guess it will happen sometimes, but I'm back on it today. Thank you for your wonderful videos, they are very inspiring.

Diane, thank you so much for making these wonderful videos! I found the FlyLady System back in 2003 when my first son was toddling around and I was crying because I felt like I wasn’t able to keep up with him, my hubby and my house. I have fluttered ever since! However, I was never as consistent as I wanted to be during various times over the years. I committed back to the system over a year ago but still struggle to get things checked off my list every day. (It is no wonder since I have 43 items on my Morning Routine list alone. Over achiever much?! LOL). So I was really cutting back on what my “routines” should look like daily. Also, I wanted to find out how to accomplish the things I still needed to accomplish throughout the week to make sure my household was ran smoothly. I ran across your videos and watch them every day while I am working on my own routines. I watched the one on your morning routine last week and worked on simplifying mine. So today, I did my shorter version of my morning routine. I worked out for 30 minutes, made my bed, cleaned my kitchen, washed a load of laundry all the way through and folded it and put it away. All that alone took me still longer then I would have liked at an hour and half. This does not even include getting dressed to shoes because I keep my workout clothes on until I finish my morning cleaning. However, I think that the issue is because I am not completing my evening routine and I am struggling to get my boys to pick up after themselves so it is like I start from scratch every single day. For instance it took me 20 minutes in my kitchen this morning because I failed to clean the dishes that we ate on last night and clean the pots and pans after I served the dinner. Even though I do try to clean up as I go while making dinner, I struggle to get my booty off the couch and go clean the kitchen after we eat. Plus my family just leaves me to pick up all the dishes after we eat and clean the kitchen myself. So after watching your evening routine video, I asked my husband if he could pause the TV after dinner and have the boys help bring up all the dishes and help me in the kitchen for 5 minutes each night. Of course he said yes but it is the implementation that I struggle with because it seems to be a battle to get the boys to help. My strategy on this will be that my 13 year old can get his dessert after he helps me in the kitchen for 5 minutes. My 17 year old, I may have to bribe him with money if he will do it. Maybe you have some ideas on this? I do want to bless my family with a clean home but feel so defeated at times and tired from the daily grind. My 13 year old is special needs and I relate him to the Tasmanian Devil where he spins around making messes everywhere. He has SEVERE ADHD among Autism and Intellectual Delay so he has the mentality of a 4-5 year old. I struggle already at night with just trying to stay on top of him and have him put stuff away that by the end of my time making dinner, I am tired and worn out. My goal with your 7 day challenge is to complete my shortened morning schedule daily and then to at least spend 15 minutes cleaning the kitchen after we eat nightly. I am hoping to free up my morning a little more by pushing though the tired at night.

Hi Bonnie! You seem to have hit the nail on the head yourself with your point about following through. Make it fun for everyone after dinner...no-one leaves the kitchen after you eat dinner until things are put away, put in the dishwasher, table wiped. Set a timer for 3 minutes, turn on the music, light a candle and make it a ritual. A fun moment! And perhaps track it, add a sticker to the calendar? Of course it will seem a little forced in the beginning but will soon become a natural part of your day. You are the adult, you decide what happens in your house! 😃 Have you seen my Flylady Refresher Course or the Basics Week I did? That will answer your other questions... kzread.info/head/PLxIYCyTLBED-1vdMwaAhm7Z_3Br__gals

Thank you Diane for another encouraging video and for helping to keep us all on the straight and narrow! Challenge accepted for the evening routine. I am going to organise my snacks and lunch as part of my launch pad preparation. When I'm organised, I can resist the biscuit tin at work far more easily! I would love to know what your family think of the Flylady system and if you have any tips on how to encourage teenagers to adopt routines. When my girls were wee it was easier to help them lay out their clothes and pack their bags but now I feel their resistance if I am being , as you would say, 'too preachy!'

Tressa's Stay at Home Life I actually started decluttering or as I call it "purging" our house in January. We have donated so much to Salvation Army, Haven Hospice & Vietnam Veterans of America. My husband & I hope to downsize in 2018 when our youngest finishes college so my goal is to purge the house of unnecessary items & being able to move into a smaller home 😊. In February I found "Decluttering groups" on FB & someone mentioned the FlyLady program. I had never heard of it. Well, I watched the FlyLady in a video & that led me to KZread where I found FLDiane😃. I've watched the 31 Baby Steps twice! And I'm implementing the routines. I've only got a couple rooms left to purge but I've been feeling overwhelmed with it all so this week I started using 15 minutes at a time to tackle those rooms & it really is helping! I know what it's like to get sucked into the Internet! One video can lead to another!!! Good luck !

Not so Lively FlyBaby in Massachusetts here. I have zero routines, I do 'nothing' regularly. I want to try to do the following over the next 7 days: Swish & Swipe. Shine Sink before bed. 1 load of Laundry a day. Clean cats box daily. 15 min De-Clutter each day. 2 min Hot Spot. This is a mixture of routines, but are things I would like to get in a habit of doing.

Since I gave him my room, I had to plan my outfit ahead and I was going in early so I put together my breakfast and lunch so I could just pack it in the morning. Toiletries are in a caddy with a handle that easily went from one bathroom to the other. All in all, preparation last night made the transition back to work easier this morning. Hi Diane! I just finished your 31 Day Babysteps, I was not sure what to do next, Been tempted to start over on the 31 days. My husband doesn't seem on board yet. He is a type that has to see big changes and there isn't theses big changes just small ones. My house got this way cause I got overwhelmed and just gave up, I saw this seven day challenge and thought maybe I would take the challenge and get these morning and evening routines down. If I get these down maybe then there would be a change in our majorly cluttered home.,,,,Thank you for all your advice it has been a major blessing. Do you have any advice on how I can get my husband on board and see that I am trying?.... Linda from Waco Texas.

I am practicing my night routine. It helps me to prepare breakfast part way-- putting cereal in bowl, including extras like nuts, fruit, but not milk. The challenge is to remember I did this IN THE MORNING. LOL. and lay my clothes out. And go to bed.

I want to join as well! I found Flylady many years ago but have not really got into the routines. My mornings are quite productive, it's the evening I have to work with, especially going to bed at a decent hour, that's just not happening! I have two small kids and enjoy my evenings, unfortunately for to long! But I really need the sleep. I will focus on my go to bed-time and to lay out my clothes for tomorrow, it's so hard to do for me; I don't want to make decisions! I love your videos! They keep me coming back to Flylady. All the best from a german girl living in Sweden. That means we are almost neighbours! ;-)

For you it is even more important to make sure to have your routines written down. Check them off during the day as you do them - the time of day will vary, but at least you can keep track of where you are. Good luck!

Hi, Diane! I'm trying the System for quite a while Now. It' s really Great actually. Actually... But my big problem is how can I learn to stay focussed on one thing at a time. I kind of mix everything up, do one thing half, then get to another thing, then go back to the thing before... During my morning routine, I do a little zone cleaning, then do something of the weekly plan and so on.... And I try so hard to stay focused, but still dont really manage. What can I do? Really need your help!

Bonjour !

Ok I am ready to start tomorrow. My challenge is to do as my first step when I come home in the evening from work to wash the whole cutlery and the whole dishes. As there is a lot at the moment, I will start with 1 cutl, 1 dish, 2 cutl. 2 dishes and from day three on (Saturday: I will wash the whole amount of cutl. and dishes and day 4,5,6,7 I will keep pace and probably after the seven days, I will enlarge this habit to another 7 days that means those will be 14 days in total, then 21, 28 and 31 days or perhaps 7 more days. Whenever I feel that this habit is no longer a challenge for me, I will add another habit and also start a new 7 days challenge with both of the routines and so on. So I no longer intend to do 31 habits but only one habit for a future amount of days multiplied by seven (my goal is to do this habit for the rest of my life but only in 7-day-challenges) and then two habits for a future amount of days, also multiplied by seven and so on, also the rest of my life, so that I become a woman of good routines like in the Bible in Proverbs chapter 31 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants'ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it ; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also , and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
