Flying to Vieques, Puerto Rico! Day 1 Vlog
Welcome back travelers! This week we are vacationing in Puerto Rico! But not the Puerto Rico you may be thinking of. We are actually going to be staying on one of the smaller islands off the east coast. Vieques (Spanish spelling of a Taíno word meaning "small island" or "small land") is located about 8 miles off the coast and was home to a US military base from the 1940s till 2003.
In this video we travel from Charlotte, NC to the tiny beautiful island. It took us 3 flights including a 25 minute flight on a small 8 seater "puddle jumper". A first for all of us.

Question when you land in VQS airport where do you get a rental car from?? Do they have them at the terminal soon as you land, can you book ahead or is it more of a in person thing

We reserved the cars beforehand and asked if they would meet us at the airport.

they do! Silver Airways is one of them. I'm not sure of the other. it js about $300 round trip from San Juan.
That tiny plane looked both super fun and super terrifying

it was. For me, watching the guages and the buttons were the crazy part.

hey which airport do you leave from to get to either vieques or culebra?

San Juan airport. There's some small airlines that fly out. We like to use a site called Rome2Rio and it gives you all the details.

Either out of SJU, Isla Grande which you can get to quickly by taxi from SJU, or from Ceiba
and do you book online like a normal flight?

Yes. We used Silver Airways for this trip and booked online.
