My first wife and I spent our honeymoon on Mackinac Island and enjoyed two nights at the Grand hotel. We spent the next three nights at one of the smaller but beautiful hotels down near the harbor. I highly recommend anyone visiting the island if only for one day. The lack of vehicles and the sounds of the horse-drawn carriages he is very soothing

Grant, after spending the better part of 25yrs in commercial aviation and being a Line Check Airman, your conduct on the flight deck is superb! Keep it up. The PC-12 has always been one of my favorites after giving a flight review in one centuries ago. Amazing aircraft....Thanks for sharing the experience!

Love the video. I was a bartender at the Grand Hotel the summer of 1980, fell in love with a cocktail waitress from Ft Wayne there and moved with her to Indy. Great memories!

I lived for many years just 26 miles from Mackinac Island. I flew my helicopter to Mackinac many times along with fixed-wing planes too. Great destination for pilots to fly to in the summer. No cars on the island. Horses and bikes. Love your Pilates 12

Great video! Can't say enough about the 360 camera. Very cool! I used to live in northern MI. It was very cool to see the Straits and Islands from the air. Now I live in Indiana.

Very cool! You flew directly over Lake Douglas with Pelston airport on the left. We used to spend our summer vacations at Lake Douglas in the late 50's and early 60's. We got to see the bridge being built and enjoyed Mackinac Is. several times. Thanks for the show!

Really enjoyed your video, have no idea how it got my attention, but glad it did. I live in Michigan and have been to the island dozens and dozens of times all by ferry. You can catch a ferry from either side of the bridge. Loved seeing my state as you flew north. Great job.

Grew up in cheboygan. Worked in mackinaw city and spent a lot of time on the island. Northern lower peninsula is a great place to live. Bois blanc, round island, Mackinac island. S to N Thanks for the great view of the straights and Northern lake Huron. Beautiful view and great flight.

I grew up on Mackinac Island in the summer, and Mackinaw City the rest of the year. Did my pilot training out of Cheboygan and flew to the island countless times. Very cool airport to fly in and out of!

Live in Michigan, been to Mackinac many many times, but never by plane. Run way always looks small from the ground. Great place to take the kids and capture memories. Hope you were able to get up in the Cupola Bar at the top of the Grand - views of island are majestic. Northern Michigan is stunning in the fall.

The lobby was as far as we went in the Grand. We will have to go back with the kids sometime!

Very cool! We actually landed that same day about 15 minutes before you- actually saw ourselves unloading our plane in your footage as you entered the ramp at the back just to right in the arrow. We were admiring your plane - very nice bird. Happy flying!

@@GrantBaker I believe you’re right. The only one that comes to mind at this point is the one I mentioned. It’s a movie about Christopher Reeve’s going back in time. It’s an old one, but I still find it very enjoyable to watch. I think I may have forgot to say your plane is gorgeous. I love that plane.

I grew up in Detroit and live now in LA. I almost bought a home next to the Mackinac airport runway. It was close to the end of the runway. Victorian style outside with modern amenities like AC and new windows. Looking back, I wish I would have purchased it and instead, sold my second home.

Now...here is a pilot that actually follows the noice abatement rules by NOT flying over the town. I cannot even begin to count the number of posted videos by pilots that completely ignore the rule. Great job!!

Yep! I use the Nflightcam Exterior Ball-Head Mount (amzn.to/3PEAXT4). It works great and is very secure! Their max demonstrated speed with the mount is 350mph, so probably plenty of margin for your Debonair! ;) I'll actually be doing a video on how I use the Insta360 soon, but if you have more questions, you can always email me at pilatusgrant@gmail.com.

Actualy Snow mobiles are the other transportation across the ice in the mid winter months from the Upper Paninsula to Mackinaw Island. Of course the shipping lane is closed for freighters at that time of year.

Thanks! They are Bose. Model is A20 I believe. They came with the plane and are the first active noise canceling ones that I’ve used regularly. I like them a lot!
