The Duke is a great fast airplane that has great useful load. Flown with good engine management and they will last to TBO and beyond. I love ours and its some good flying and a very stable IFR platform. Thanks for the Video.

I have over 500 hrs. flying a Duke. A couple things, the fuel flow in climb is 33 gph per side. I figure 60 gal. burned in the 1st hr. from sea level to cruise altitude of FL220 or 230, then 40 gph at a moderate cruise setting. I also suggest he have his oxygen masks plugged in ready to use if needed. At FL250 a loss of cabin pressure gives you no time to be scrambling for the mask. Otherwise he has a nice ship, good climb performance.

I never put on oxygen. The Duke is pressurized and does not require oxygen, but you usually put the oxygen mask on your lap at flight about 18k just in case you have a pressurization failure..

Hello from Tampa Florida. I'm a 16 year old kid whose still dreaming of learning to fly. Its been my passion sense i was about four. I have watched nearly all of your videos and love their simplicity. Just real flying for real aviation enthusiast; no music, just commentary and that's the way i like it. Even though Im not yet a real pilot i still manage to learn a lot from your videos. I cant help but to envy at your position as a pilot though. Owning a few planes in all. Please upload more videos and help to aid a young kid like me in chasing his dream. Thanks again and safe flying to you. : )

Enjoyed your video. As an "old" Avionics/Instrument system technician, USAF, I love those old "Steam Gauges!" :) I realize this airplane could be fairly maintenance intensive, at least from the Avionics point of view. Engine and electrical systems would be a whole other ballgame. One commenter indicated that it might be a little difficult to find A&P's to work on those engines. I realize there are differences among engines, but I wouldn't necessarily make that assumption. They are LARGE engines - and I think turbocharged - and you have TWO of them! ha. I do, however, think the Piper Arrow is my favorite! :) Thanks, N-6395T

I can't completely agree with you on that comment about riding the airlines for cheaper. If you have a great, fast, economical plane that doesn't guzzle gas you can easily fly cheaper then the airlines. Mind you we do have maintenance and insurance to factor in but, of course, we don't fly because it's cheaper or more expensive. We fly for the thrill and the privacy combine. We don't have to deal with tsa invasions and can fly whenever we want and wherever we want.

Hello Dukepilot. I love your video. Congratulations. It's awesome. Question: What equipment did you use to make the movie? What did you use for the audio to work with your movie? I have a Mooney Bravo and will be flying to Fort Myers from Timmins, Ontario Canada in a couple of months. I want to make a video very similar to yours. Thank you for posting.

Would you be comfortable flying those engines a few hundred hours past TBO, to say 1800 or 1900 hours? I know that there are items to check on the Dukes, such as the condensation bleed valves on the belly, & for any corrosion on the magnesium tail section. Any other suggestions for pre-buy inspection? Thanks!

Something was mentioned early on in the video T.I.T - Turbine Inlet Temperature, then several minutes later Cylinder Head Temperature was mentioned. If this is a turbine, then why was the latter mentioned? Just curious. Great video BTW. Tnx!

Daniel Neuenschwander both are important. These are piston engines and keeping CHT lower extends engine life. TIT because you don’t want to cook the turbocharger.

TIT turbine inlet temperature isn’t because it’s a turbine engine.. this is a piston engine with a turbo, and TIT measures the turbo inlet temperature!

These are nice planes. However the fuel burn is huge. Somehow it always manages to burn everything you planned plus a bit more. Basically 45 gph block to block. The look is pure sex appeal. But a 340 w RAM will do pretty much everything a Duke will do and it has a better cabin and baggage area.
