Flying Air Greenland from Kangerlussuaq to Nuuk via Maniitsoq

Welcome to another trip report!
On August 20, I flew Air Greenland from Kangerlussuaq, GL to Nuuk, GL through Maniitsoq, GL. Nuuk is the capital and largest city in Greenland with over 17,000 residents. Air Greenland (previously known as Greenlandair) is the flag carrier and only airline based in Greenland. They operate a fleet of 32 aircraft and are owned by the Greenlandic Government. Besides running scheduled services and government-contracted flights to most villages in the country, they also support remote research stations and provide charter services for tourists and Greenland's energy and mineral-resource industries along with medivac operations during emergencies. They technically have seven subsidiaries: the airline, hotels, tour operators, a travel agency specialized in Greenlandic tourism, and the Arctic Umiaq Line, an unprofitable but government-subsidized ferry service that I am interested in doing a video on in the near future.
On our way, we had a quick stop in Maniitsoq to drop off and pick up some passengers. Maniitsoq is the 6th largest town in Greenland with 2,670 residents.
I hope you enjoy the video!

I was there a week before you. Round trip from KEF though. Dash 8, about 3 hours with 2 or 3 meal services (and bathroom). Super service. We wound up in Kangerlussuak at 02:30 instead of Ilulissat after 2 missed approaches and a hold. They put us in the old barracks for a few hours sleep and we flew to Ilulissat the next morning, arriving after 1 miss and a lengthy hold. These crews are short field and holding pattern pros.

I don't really understand the outdated mentality of flight attendants or the airlines when it comes to filming. If the airline is doing a good job, you aren't being unsafe or causing problems/ being a nuisance to other passengers, why bother the photographer? It is the cheapest PR and advertisement the airlines could get and it is FREE! It is those in the industry that are doing subpar service, (the ones that threaten the photographer), and they don't want to be exposed to the general public. It's a good thing that reviews like yours gives them feedback on their planes and allows them to address these issues and again they don't pay a nickel to get this review! FREE!! Thanks, Quentin for your videos. Your videos are an honest review of what a regular passenger thinks of their service; I appreciate that! Happy Trails!

Yes that's so true . I do agree with your first statement that airlines receive enormous publicly from this form of media andAviation Vlogers do a great service to us KZread viewers. I must admit I do like watching the Cabin Crew strut their stuff in these vids. Having worked for a Australian Airline some years ago I was always surprised how some F/A's mainly the young one's were so surly and thought their #% €¥ didn't stink. I know the first day of their training they are told how special they are for being successful because of the huge number of applications for the position. Also I feel they may think that standing in the aisle while we are seated affords them a cause of authority. It's a bit like being seated in the bosses office while the boss stands. Anyway it was nice having a chat and all the best in beautiful Alaska.

I remember flying overhead Nuuk years ago, heading back to New Zealand from London (I know right, doesnt sound logical does it!), at 40000 ft and wondering what it must be like, that it would be great to stop off and get a closer look at such a remote place I knew nothing about, and would prob never get to. Problem solved! Thank you 👍😊

First of all absolutely brilliant video. I loved it. If I may offer you a little bit of constructive criticism. Please leave the subtitles on for a little bit longer. I don’t exactly speed read but I couldn’t read to the end. There wasn’t enough time. Thank you very much indeed I look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Best wishes. Joseph.

The colour scheme of Air Greenland looks nice and resembles the country's flag. Wonder if they also chose this colour as it stands out against the background should a plane go down in these remote parts.

Its red-white for 2 reasons. 1. Greenland's flag colors 2. If a plane would crash in the snow, it would be recognised earlier when red.
