After the video, i trimmed about 1/4" off the end of the rabbit strip by using a razor on the leather side, if you use scissors to cut your rabbit strip, make sure you're not cutting the fur along with it.

Hook used - Gamakatsu SL12S 1/0
black rabbit strips, use either regular or magnum size depending on the size of the fish you're targeting
purple crosscut rabbit strips, crosscut is for wrapping around the hook shank

Nice fly!
Hello. I’ve been tying a similar fly for about 25 years and I just Palmer a cross cut bunny strip. Why do you do the dubbing wrap? The extra skin under the purple gives the fly a bit more bulk on the front end and I feel it pushes water well. Just curious
I agree with the other commenters. The dubbing loop seems like an unnecessarily complicated step. The fish sure don’t care 5:55
Just use cross cut bunny for the collar .easy..
