Fly Tying: Brammer's Monster Craw - Crawfish Imitation

Спорт

A simple easy to tie crawfish pattern I designed. Extremely effective on river smallmouth, but also a great fly for stream trout, carp, and anything that may fancy some craw. For fly orders head to my website at www.streamersbygunnar.com

Such detail you provide and your tips like the thread spinning including direction and how it bends the thread to the back to help capture the material is outstanding! I so much enjoy watching you tie! Thank you!

I'm still hooked on the pheasant crawl you make. Mine don't turn out as nice. But they catch fish. I'll half to try this one.

Very nice crawfish pattern Gunnar. Those shrimp hooks are awesome, as well as the patterns the Scandinavians tie on them. I didn't know they made crawfish/shrimp heads now. Are they weighted? Thanks, you always explain every step and give the reason for the technique in just about every video you make. You want to make tips and problem solving videos now? You already do that! Great job man! 👍😎

Thank you Joe, I really appreciate that man! The shrimp/cray tails from Flymen come in 3 sizes and are weighted respectively. The largest size is able to invert the hook while I prefer to use the Medium and small oriented in a hook down manner and fish them higher in the water column - like a crayfish just flushed from his spot and getting washed downstream in the current. They add a really nice dart action without too much jig.

Really nice tie. I like the way your creativity shows in all of your flies. You have a reason for everything you tie on the hook whether for aesthetics of the presentation and/or the weight being in the front on the bottom of the hook. Thanks for sharing your vision and practicality to a relatively inexpensive but effective pattern which is easy to tie. Have you ever tried bruiser blend for flyfishfood.com/store? it's perfect for aligning and tying in as a carapace or legs. Bruiser blend jr is one inch long and bruiser blend is nearly 2 inches long. All the best Sean
