Fly Tying a Poly Wing BWO with Jim Misiura
Спорт
Very often when fishing a hatch of BWO is it necessary to fish no-hackle flies. Poly yarn is a great material for no-hackle flies. it floats very well on it's own, but when you add floatant to the wing it becomes unsinkable.

Thanks for the fly Jim. The poly yarn makes a nice looking wing. Rusty
Beautiful imitation Jim, in my fly boxes this model is always present. Greetings from ITALY Giancarlo
V Another great video! Thanks for all the videos...they are much appreciated. I look forward each week to another video.
Thanks for the kind words, & you're very welcome. Jim
thanks for the fly. still like the garbage bag wing flies you make too. ever since i saw you make the garbage wing i made some of the blue wing olive ones and never caught so many trout like i am now. but all in all you always amaze me with your patterns. i am surprised you don't have any books out yet.
Yes and it is cheap & plentiful. I've been using the same one for like 15 years. It also take permanent marker very well. So there is no need to buy a wide variety of colors, just markers. Jim
I used a black shaprie on this. But if you find any with earth tones that would be good.
The wings are going to stay above the water, most of the body will be in or under the surface.
I like cheap. Is there a permanent marker you suggest that works well? Rusty
Hey Jim, another great video, I was wondering, do these little BWO, and sulfur duns not have any segmentation? I notice most patterns to imitate them do not have a rib. I am rib crazy and love to use wire or flat tinsel on the bodies of my flies. Not all of them but the majority of times I do rib a fly. If for no other reason than the teeth I see on those trout you and other fishermen are always catching. I still have no experience as I am home with the ill wife all the time. All the best, Sean
Do you ever use a small single drop of super glue at the base of the poly wings so they maintain the separation and hold their position?

Love the fly, and nicely done videos.
Okay, I have plenty sharpies. One more question from a beginner. If you don't have hackle how does it stay upright?
Sean, Sure they have segments but with something this small and smaller they aren't needed to work. It is more impressionistic then realistic. Jim
