Those were some tough flows out there! Way to fight through it. I highly recommend going back in the fall. Last time I was there very end of September, flows were around 500CFS, and there was a caddis hatch! So much fun getting those mile fish on dry flies.

I’m definitely headed back in fall and look forward to some flows that are a bit easier to wade for sure. The bug life up there seems insane! I found myself in the middle of a stonefly hatch and that was a ton of fun!! Can’t even imagine picking up those fish on dries. Must’ve been an absolute blast!

That looks like an amazing fishery. With as many big trout as you caught on those 2 days, it is neat that you included process of making your adjustments. Footing along the edges looked tricky. Looks like a neat area with varying current speeds and water depths.

Thanks Shiner Guy :) I tried to do this video a little bit differently. I'd say most of my videos could be classified as trout porn. This one shows a little bit more of the struggle, challenges, etc before getting to the good stuff. This place is typically fished from a drift boat because it's big/wide water, and it's just easier to reach the fish from a boat. So wading can be a challenge and you've really got to pick your spots wisely and break the river down into bits and pieces to find where they are. It's a great challenge and part of what makes fly fishing so much fun!! Thanks much for the comment and channel support. I sincerely appreciate it man, dan

GOD, your production value is so good Dan! I'm 5 seconds into the video at this point lol.................Locating fish in beautiful scenery is always such a blast. I feel you pain when it comes to losing fish, especially recently. I lost so many fish while I was up camping it made me sort of start laughing in frustration haha. Feels so good though when you finally put em in the net though! You were crushing it for the rest of the day and the next! Current seemed rough, glad you made the adjustments and figured things out to slay it on the fly rod...Now that I'm fly fishing, I respect what you're doing in an episode like this even more! Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next Wyoming episode💯👏🎣😃

Lol thanks buddy. I’m trying with every video to make the production value a little better than the last. I’ve been trying to incorporate Adobe after effects a bit more for some more dynamic graphics, and also trying to work on better audio so that any narration is easier to hear. But man, I’ve still got a long ways to go. I’m looking into lav mics that I can use to up the audio quality even more, and also just got a second tripod so I can capture additional angles. The other thing I’m doing is bringing a small light that I can use on a light stand for those early morning shots that just don’t have enough light to produce quality footage. So, the work never stops but that’s what keeps things interesting I suppose. For this video, I really wanted to find some “Wyoming” type music and it took awhile, but think I found some that matches it well. As for the fly fishing, it’s incredible how much that first morning made me feel like such a noob. I was literally questioning my merits there for a couple hours. But tried to stay positive and all it took was one hook up and then I knew I could turn it around. Just keep after it and remember that every time out you’ll get a little bit better. Once all this Covid stuff passes, would be great to spend a day with you and I’ll share whatever I know and that may accelerate the learning curve a bit also. Thanks as always for the great comments and channel support Team CO.F.F.

Dan! You MUST use a guide the next time you go back. It’s usually something I don’t do, but man, my Dad and I went up and floated that entire river over 2 days all the way through Grey’s Reef area (I believe). Truly amazing place and they can hook you up with GREAT streamer rigs for the BIG guys! Awesome video my friend! Matt

Matt, thank you sir! Yeah, totally agree. I'm gonna get a guide at some point. I can only imagine how much more fish are available from the boat ... there were so many spots I was eyeing but it was just too hard to access with the flows and how wide the river is ... add to that healthy flows and even with my farthest cast, there was no way I was getting a good drift. So, I'll pony up one of these days and get a guide :) Grey Reef and Fremont Canyon are the next 2 places I want to hit. So much to do man. And then I get thinking about high mountain lakes like you've been hitting and my head explodes 🤣 I need more time!!! Thanks as always for the support my friend, dan

Great video and glad to find someone who has been on the Miracle Mile. Last summer I went out there and started in New Mexico and worked my way north but the flows were to high to wade fish. It was running at 4000 and the shop I stopped said it was dangerous, especially since I was solo. Got to make it back out there next summer. You seem to fish the areas I am planning and I appreciate the insight.

Everything in the video was using an indicator. I tried some Euro as well, but just couldn't get anything going. So, went back to the indicator setup and just kept trying different places, and eventually got some nice fish in the net. This trip started off with the makings of a complete bust, but I just kept making adjustments (different style, new flies, different depths, new places) and thankfully turned out to be a trip to remember.
