Need to get back down there soon. I've always enjoyed the fly shop even though I have only fished spinning gear on the Sipsey to date...Finally broke down and got a fly rod and reel and am ready to learn fly fishing.
What fly would you recommend for the summer? I was thinking about taking a trip there

There are not enough trout in the Sipsey to support a fisherman draw. Most of the trout are caught by spin fishing and floating Berkley trout bait on a no. 12 bait hook, split shot, and 4 lb. test by tight lining from the bank. I fished this stretch of water for 10 years before the stream improvements and access points. I can fish a dead drift nymph size 18 gold bead hairs ear nymph from near daylight till afternoon and catch fish all day. I think it may be good to come and see how great it is after the stream modifications and access points.
I was supposed to get a class with Brandon today but the recent weather foiled it.

Ronald Hays, I believe the closest public camping area is Bankhead National Forest Campground.
Is it only "catch and release" otherwise known as just fish molesting?
