Excellent video as always, what I use is some kind of glued paper that I hang around the barn and Synergized Permethrin 1% pour on usually, but im not organic or 100% grass fed. That being said is a chemical. By the way I noticed your cows manure is hard, a score of 5 i would say, like horse poop that's usually a sign of a poor diet of too much low quality fiber and low protein, I fixed the problem by adding a protein tub. Ps; Not telling you what to do, just trying to help a fellow rancher from my own mistakes 😂😂😂, my like as always.

Thanks Rey. The hay quality was down this year. I intend to change suppliers next year, but as far as supplements go I have for sure over done it this year with the protein tubs and alfalfa cubes, so I’m hoping what you seen was just aged manure. The stuff in the barn was for sure. They rarely go in there unless the weather gets to bad, and to get out of the heat sometimes in the summer. I appreciate you pointing it out though because it is a possibility and I will be sure to keep an eye on what the fresh ones look like to be sure. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

@@dexterranch Dexters sure don't like buildings...............It took me years to get mine to understand that was the "Safe" spot, they don't like leaving it now, its cool in the summer, warm and dry with deep bedding pack in the winter, but getting them to use it as intended was interesting.

Always was told Muscovy Ducks were how they handled flys in barn yards here years ago, don't know if that is truth or fiction. I would try some, but they would probably flee the barn yard and head to the neighbors who would probably feed them and make them useless like my barn cat. My cows enter the barn though smaller doors, we hang bags with fly dust in them as soon as the weather gets warm, seems to help, as it gets them on their backs going in and out. On hot humid days I still spray around the barn/yard to keep them down. Seem to have good control for the most part with the bags and mineral in the feed with has stuff in it to help stop the fly reproduction. Please post an update on this. Flys are a bigger issue than most think around cattle.

I was thinking about trying the fly control mineral this year as well. Muscovy ducks huh? I’ll have to check that out. I keep saying I’m going to add some different animals to the farm. Maybe someday I will. I will definitely post an update. I’m hoping it helps. Hope all is well.

@@dexterranch @Dexter Ranch That was what the pipe smoking old farts always told me. I would get some if they would stick around, we got a creek that is dammed up real close to the barn, but I think they would flee to the neighbors houses as they think everything is a pet.

Are them wasps native to your area? I just be afraid that I would be introducing a specie that might cause issues with native wildlife

So these are not wasp like we think of wasp. They are knat sized parasitic wasp. They have a life cycle of 28 days. As far as if they are native to this area I’m not positive. Good question.

Maybe try making a horse fly trap and let them kill themselves? I think regular flies will fly up the trap also.

I’ve got a few fly traps in the barn. Trying to attack it from a few different angles. Lol
