    Please make this with CV and/or MIDI out. I am aware that there are good reasons for the idiosyncrasies of the Soma instruments, but being able to control the sound of your favourite monosynth with this would simply be awesome!

    The Soma Flux looks like the ultimate instrument in terms of expressivity (even more so than the Osmose) but I wonder if such precise gestures with outstretched hands hovering in the air might bring about arm ache after a while. Do you experience this as a theremin player?

  • @tonysharp1615

    @tonysharp1615

    The ache I feel is probably due to my inexperience with the Theremin. I’m so focused on maintaining a specific pitch that I find it hard not to tense my arm muscles when playing it. I hope that will improve over time. Thanks for the question 👍🏻👍🏻

    Kudos, Vlad for this wondrous interpretation but even more for creating an impressive (and beautiful) instrument which creatively mixes (and enhances) the interface and playability of Theremin + Ondioline + Ondes Martenot + Trautonium + Eigenharp + Fingerboard + Persephone to name a few...

    What a profound contribution to the musical community this will be! Thank you, Vlad! ❤️🙏😃 I also think about how wonderful this might be for somebody who has arthritic hands or an injury that has prevented them from using their fingers on other instruments (like Terra or Enner). It looks like you could play this instrument from the other side as well, switching the dominant "hand" too.

    Yes, Enner (and probably Terra) controls only require a light touch... but some connections require finger contortions that might not be easy if you have arthritis. With this, a person could use a tacky substance to help hold the magnets, and then use their arms for the movement. Of course, you compliment someone's vibrato, and it turns out they were playing it straight, but have Parkinsons...

    Absolutely fantastic ❤ Maybe some comments said this already: it would be excellent if 1) if Flux could send out MPE data (or have the option for people to buy an MPE module to insert into Flux) it would be a marvelous ( maybe it can as I have not been able to watch everything yet?) 2) support detecting four sensor point simultaneously for polyphonic expression playing multiple notes per hand Breathtaking new take on the Theremin and I presume even more expressive than MPE keyboards after training plying skills. It goes beyond a ROLI and Osmose in some areas already. Well done 👍!!!

    Very nice , and some time less clean ( in the good way ) , a great potential, can interest amateurs of classic instruments and their expressiveness, but also has the potential to interest peoples fan of experimental music and sounds. More easy to play than old theremin, and more possibilities of control and expression, it is a great and modern creation. You could make a simple MPE controller version.

    If it were me, I'd use the same note spacing as on a Continuum (similar to piano keys, slightly narrower). Theravox could be another template for that. Or, you could create yet another new standard for "key width"🤣. Yamaha can't even agree between their digital pianos and synths... the key width is slightly different (easier to notice if you measure octaves rather than individual notes). Good luck with successful development of Flux!

    @@somasynths Love this! "Anchored" playing makes for a much more controlled vibrato. One difficulty might be that you won't be able to hold the ball in the same location you put your finger down (unlike the the ring of the Ondes).
