Vlad Kreimer is the Don Buchla of our time
Please make this with CV and/or MIDI out. I am aware that there are good reasons for the idiosyncrasies of the Soma instruments, but being able to control the sound of your favourite monosynth with this would simply be awesome!

@@somasynths Would love to see a demo of someone playing an analog mono-synth with the FLUX.
Perhaps the best theremin yet
Take my money!!! 😍
This is absolutely fantastic. I've long wondered about ways to expand the control and tone of the Theremin. But, I never considered holding onto magnets. And, as expected, you made it sound fantastic, too.
Brilliant. Одлично SOMA, одлично Влад
Amazing you’ve created a theramin which is actually playable and sounds much more stable. The concept of using magnets is the way it should have been done to start with and can’t believe no one did it before
So many issues with a "classic" theremin design have been mitigated by your approach here. Incredible.
breathtaking. It will become my 11th SOMA Instrument…

O mio babbino caro... ottima scelta!
Absolutely magnificent. As a Theremin owner (still learning it) I’ll be anxiously awaiting the release of this instrument. I have the Ether, Lyra 8 and Terra; I’m constantly astonished by Vlad’s creativity. Thank you Vlad.

The Soma Flux looks like the ultimate instrument in terms of expressivity (even more so than the Osmose) but I wonder if such precise gestures with outstretched hands hovering in the air might bring about arm ache after a while. Do you experience this as a theremin player?
@tonysharp1615
9 ай бұрын
The ache I feel is probably due to my inexperience with the Theremin. I’m so focused on maintaining a specific pitch that I find it hard not to tense my arm muscles when playing it. I hope that will improve over time. Thanks for the question 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Vlad and the wholesome Team of Youre Company, for inventing and creating so many transformational products. In such short amount of Time. Makes be realize Utopia has arrived.
Kudos, Vlad for this wondrous interpretation but even more for creating an impressive (and beautiful) instrument which creatively mixes (and enhances) the interface and playability of Theremin + Ondioline + Ondes Martenot + Trautonium + Eigenharp + Fingerboard + Persephone to name a few...
What a profound contribution to the musical community this will be! Thank you, Vlad! ❤️🙏😃 I also think about how wonderful this might be for somebody who has arthritic hands or an injury that has prevented them from using their fingers on other instruments (like Terra or Enner). It looks like you could play this instrument from the other side as well, switching the dominant "hand" too.

Yes, Enner (and probably Terra) controls only require a light touch... but some connections require finger contortions that might not be easy if you have arthritis. With this, a person could use a tacky substance to help hold the magnets, and then use their arms for the movement. Of course, you compliment someone's vibrato, and it turns out they were playing it straight, but have Parkinsons...

I'm an left handed, arthritic, DVINA and TERRA player so FLUX will be my next instrument. Exciting.
Fantastic!
I am currently saving up money for the Terra, and vlad already presents their next masterpiece 🫣
Gorgeous. And really well played. Cannot imagine the hours put in to master this.
Like always, awesome...thank you Vlad.
Bravo Vlad and team for developing this fine new instrument!
I've got cosmos, ether and I'm waiting a pipe. You are a living example of genius that changing the way of composing music. Respect 🙏
Beautifully played on a wonderful instrument. Looking forward to adding this to my other SOMA lab instruments. Bravo, Vlad!!!
What an absolutely magnificent creation Vlad! A visionary tribute to the theremin while simultaneously evolving it into such a capable instrument. This is brilliant and thank you so much for contributing this to the musical universe.🙏❤
They say that the wheel cannot be reinvented. Now I can say yes it can be… I have seen it. This with CV and midi would be killer performace tool. Yes I know… we always want more when there is something mind blowing coming out. Thank you Soma.
That is incredible. Very well developed talent on the keys and the flux.

Bravo. You've done it again. More truly inspiring instruments released into the hands of creative people. Soma really is exceptional in R&D. You play that beautifully Vlad. This is a great demo of an amazing instrument. Lev Termen would be proud of how you have taken his basic concept and moved it to the next level. Bravo indeed Vlad. 👏
Magnifique instrument and sounds. You and your team never disappoint. Brrrravo!
Here we go again! Thank you Vlad for your amazing work!
finally a fretted theremin
Congratulations! MOOG honoured Theremin by making a theremin. You have honoured the inventive spirit of Theremin by inventing something that takes the original idea into new sonic territory, while still maintaining the sound of the original should someone what to perform that exact sound. As usual, it sounds fantastic! Bravo!
If after all this I expected Vlad to put his 2 chess pieces on a board and win. Magical stuff
Unreal! Performing a classic shows how far we have come due to your efforts. Amazing and this is the tip of the iceberg.
❤ The future of Lap Steel
Vlad you did it again.... :D Thanks a lot for this demo!!! Maybe an idea? How great would it be to have soft light transitions on the stitches when moving the magnets on the flux?
I just love this guy. Keep it up, Vlad.
Absolutely fabulous. Love the subtle play.
Incredible! Amazing! Wow!
wonderful!!!! Bravo!
What a beautiful spectacle and instrument! Well done!
love the creativity
Cool!
Amazing, loved it!
Emozionante. Grazie Vlad
Stunning work, as always ~
Gorgeous performance! ❤️✨🔥✨❤️✨
Did you try putting those magnets into (onto) rings? Like, put them on your fingers and then you can make whatever speedy/risky movements, without the risks of dropping them... pure hand-magic.
This thing sounds extremely rich, bravo, Vlad. ❤
Brilliant!
this thing is amazing !!
Fantastic! another unique and super expressive instrument from the genius of Vlad Kreimer, keep up the amazing work!
thank you
A Flux of evolution !!! Gracias, Vlad !!!

Wow! Don't ever stop.
The next masterpiece from soma
Congratulations!!!
Beyond imaginable! Vlad, I have a Cosmos, now just bought Lyra-8, you are insane!
Очень красивый инструмент. Возможно стоит сделать кольца. Что бы магнит не улетел в зал и не попал кому то в глаз во время исполнения) Это вполне может стать классическим музыкальным инструментом.
Incredible as always. If it has cv outs it will be a must buy for myself and many others I suspect.

It sounds like Jonny Greenwood just preordered one.
Love it, congrats. You need to get one of these into the hands of Grégoire Blanc, Theremin virtuoso
Absolutely fantastic ❤ Maybe some comments said this already: it would be excellent if 1) if Flux could send out MPE data (or have the option for people to buy an MPE module to insert into Flux) it would be a marvelous ( maybe it can as I have not been able to watch everything yet?) 2) support detecting four sensor point simultaneously for polyphonic expression playing multiple notes per hand Breathtaking new take on the Theremin and I presume even more expressive than MPE keyboards after training plying skills. It goes beyond a ROLI and Osmose in some areas already. Well done 👍!!!

Very interesting. I dare say they'll figure out a way to play it using reversible finger rings rather than those nodules things which look as if they MIGHT get pretty fatiguing due to finger/hand tension. Nevertheless, looks good!
This guy…. Damn…. This guy….
Instant purchase for me

Have they ever headed in expected directions? 🤔
Is it possible to play this left handed with the high-low arrangement reversed? I am a Lap steel/Pedal steel/Veena player and would be able to transfer my muscle memory much easier in this configuration. I struggle with the theremin because I am used to my left hand controlling pitch and my right hand controlling volume, timbre and rhythm.

@@somasynths Thanks Vlad, you are a genius. I can't wait for FLUX to be available.
Announcement on Saturday. Only at SOMA :-)
My advice would be to also make stylus’ with a ring for around the finger. That would make it easier to use while also controlling other instruments like synthesizers. And please add a MIDI out.
It'd be absolutely wonderful if it was possible to control Ericasynth Steampipe with this!
You need to back-light all the markers for a dark stage. Let's hope it's not as expensive as continuum (tho I am sure it's harder to play than those) Ps I LOVE this and I love Terra too. Vlad you're a legend dude
Very nice , and some time less clean ( in the good way ) , a great potential, can interest amateurs of classic instruments and their expressiveness, but also has the potential to interest peoples fan of experimental music and sounds. More easy to play than old theremin, and more possibilities of control and expression, it is a great and modern creation. You could make a simple MPE controller version.
HOLY PHUCK!
✨🎶🪄🎹🪄🎶✨
Please, a Trautonium in "SOMA-style" 👍...
Am I the only one hearing this, or does his voice sound like Hainbach doing a russian accent? Great instrument and Showcase though!
So, basically an Ondes Martenot inspired theremin? I love it. I used to think I wanted to save up for an Ondomo, but this is far more interesting to me.
Sign me up ❤
Looks amazing, are they indentations on the surface so you can feel if you touch the surface with a finger, to use as a guide like with the Ondes M?

If it were me, I'd use the same note spacing as on a Continuum (similar to piano keys, slightly narrower). Theravox could be another template for that. Or, you could create yet another new standard for "key width"🤣. Yamaha can't even agree between their digital pianos and synths... the key width is slightly different (easier to notice if you measure octaves rather than individual notes). Good luck with successful development of Flux!

@@somasynths Love this! "Anchored" playing makes for a much more controlled vibrato. One difficulty might be that you won't be able to hold the ball in the same location you put your finger down (unlike the the ring of the Ondes).
