SUPERBOOTH 2024: Soma - Flux - Your Questions Answered by Vlad
Ғылым және технология
At Superbooth 2024, *Vlad* from *Soma* answered your questions about *Flux* . Vlad discussed the use of neodymium magnets in Flux, highlighting the ability to experiment with different forms and forces of magnet to customize the keyboard response. You can even play Flux with a screwdriver! He also answered a question about the breakout box, which will offer MIDI output with full MPE support and 11 CV outputs 5 parameters in the left hand and 6 in the right for controlling external gear.
When asked about the possibility of playback in selectable scales, Vlad mentioned that currently, Flux offers chromatic quantization, but that the strength of the gear lies in its non-quantizing performance. Answering a question about accessing the parameters of the sound engines, Vlad explained that there are 37 different engines and up to 12 parameters for synthesis control, and each engine has unique variations. Vlad also hinted at the potential for future algorithm developments, showcasing the flexibility of Flux in accommodating additional instruments over time. For more information on Flux and its unique features, check out their website and stay tuned for updates.
Flux and Breakout Box are currently in development. Price TBC

What a guy. What a machine. We’re lucky to have vlad and soma.
I could listen to him longer. The "Mylard" conference was great for that. A big thanks to Sonicstate to stick with those amazing device creators. It was a special year for Superbooth.
Can't wait to see more of those guy, I love their products
I was thinking I'd want to customise magnets if I ever got one of these, not being sure I like the magnets as included, and it's nice to know that's a super easy thing.
Love It
👍i LoVe ! 💙⚪❤
Thank you SOMA, thank you Sonicstate, a brilliant device indeed !! They keep on releasing truly original electronic instruments, they are inspiring !
In a previous interview the possibility of creating a "reduced" version, with fewer octaves, is mentioned. This would be wonderful for "home" use, not professional. I have played keyboards and bass in my life, but now unfortunately with arthritis in my fingers I can no longer play "physical" instruments. Flux would be perfect, but the current version is too big. I really hope that the idea of making a more compact one is really considered! Vlad Kreimer , is there this possibility? Thanks!!!
I dunno... I like the vibe of all Soma's stuff, but I was expecting something more polyphonic after all the MPE talk. 😂 It's like a Linnstrument theremin with a D-Beam on the left. With all the modulation it's got sort of a Cliff Burton Anesthesia wah pedal sound. If he would just noodle around with a CR-78 or a Mini Pops running I think that'd make people pretty happy. Now I have to go watch another Flux video and try to determine if it can make percussive noises.

Just glue the magnets to the end of some drum sticks, bam, air xylophone
Finally, a theremin I could actually play!!! 😀
His voice is special too!

i was unreasonably disappointed that the question about magnets wasnt „how do they work“

@@sonicstate "magnets, how do they work?" is kind of a meme /joke/song
Solution for quantized scale mode : trusty masking tape .
So glad to see Vlad, And not everything is turned into a political ukraine/russia thing.
