I wouldn't be trusting just the field sense IMO, treat it as an indication device like a volt stick and always use your probes to double check. You're pretty keen but where was the insulation resistance test before energising?

I agree about the field sense, perhaps where the 377 is coming from, and come on who actually meggers stuff in the field?

@@JonSparky I do, if you don't you don't want to have an arc flash in your face! We use AS/NZ 3017 For testing in OZ and Kiwi land. I'd call this the bang test method personally as those conductors have huge fault currents. She's still learning and is keen as so I wanted to give some good advice. We need more lady tradies IMHO.

@JonSparky you are a danger to yourself and others and shouldn't have an electrical license. If you dont IR test and something goes wrong and energy safety get involved, you are screwed, let alone someone dying. I've had builders excavate and hit mains cables and not say anything, dead short. If you don't megger to check then you are closing a switch onto a dead short. If your next to the transformer the fault current is high and if the switchboard is old and not designed properly, it will arc and blow up in your face.

@@Forester17 ohh sure let's assume it's always the worst case. If I pull wires in a pipe I ran that I can clearly see, where's the danger? Maybe you don't have good fuses over there. Even at the main in the building I'm working at now the fault current is less then 8kA

'T6-1000' sounds like some new Terminator model,. Let's hope it never connects to SkyNet. On the other hand, being a multimeter, maybe it prefers to join the 'resistance' 🤣 (and yes, I'll never get a career as a stand up comedian, I know..)

I was going back and forth between this and the t6-1000 pro. some people were complaining of that self-ground giving weird range values instead of true grounds. Noticed any weird voltages when using yourself as ground? the pro version removed that feature so I'm curious as to whether the pro is worth the additional $$$

Workout outside of work. Stretch everyday for 10 to 20 minutes. Eat healthy I go Mediterranean diet but every couple weeks do a little cheat day and go out with my buddies and drink n eat whatever. Don't overwork yourself for a job know your limit and ask for help when needed. Follow every seftey rule to a t, saftey rules are written in blood. Brother and sisters keeper if you look out for them they will look out for you. And for the love of all that is holey never assume a crkt is dead always meter it out yourself and lock it out with your own personal lock and key. Just give a damn tbh, I see so many guys just shrug off saftey and they do fine until the day they don't do fine and are at least out of work from an injury or at worst disabled in some way and not able to do construction anymore. Good luck and stay safe.

Sparkie from down in Australia, I sure hope this video is edited for keeping it light and entertaining, no IR test? I wouldn't trust a non contact device to declare isolation before touching it, and always test the tester! That saved me from making a 680VDC mistake just yesterday! In all the fumbling with insulated gloves didn't notice we bumped the min/max hold button, battery to ground 0V, great! Battery to battery, 0V, mistake found! Also, think about using the probes and wearing insulated gloves when testing in live panels like that, wish I had years ago, been bitten too many times!

Yeah how about no. I’d never put on all that extra stuff on this type of work, I’m not a bubble wrap electrician. In situations for high potential of an arc flash or incidents, then yes, but for work like this is a waste of time at least for me especially if you’re powering everything down.
