Fluids Review: Common Challenges

In this live session, I am going to cover the most common questions I have seen asked about fluids while tutoring the MCAT. I will also cover the idea of proportionality and a step-by-step approach to solving questions involving proportionality both for all content as well as specific examples with fluids. If there is time left at the end I will open the session up for questions. So if you struggle with a specific element of fluids make sure you have your questions ready.

Wow, the proportionality trick is so useful! Thank you! I've recently discovered your channel and I love the content so much. You have an amazing talent for making difficult topics easy to understand. Do you plan on uploading more videos to this channel?

Hi! Great vid but I think I noticed a mistake- for the hydraulic lift problem (P=F/A), I think that the force on the right side should be 12.5 N. Since the pressure on the left side is 25, the right side should also match that ratio making the F on top go down, since A went down! On the left side, I think because it’s larger force, you pull through a smaller distance, but on the right side, lesser force allows pull through a greater distance. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you want to keep Work and Pressure constant!!

Sometimes I make mistakes during live sessions and this is an example of one of those mistakes good catch. You are right the force should go down because the area went down. Since pressure is applied equally in all directions it should be the same on both sides additionally due to conservation of energy the work on both sides should also be the same too. I will remake this video and make sure to correct that error. For now I am going to leave this video up and will pin a comment with the corrected information.
