Great video! I was wondering if my synthesis of the passage is taking a long time for instance my average to read and summarize the passage is about 5 minutes. That is the same time it would typically take me to read the passage without this technique (where I am highlighting dates and names, and trying to understand) save for 1 additional minute. Any thoughts on why my speed might be hindered? My goal is to get the passage reading down to 3 minutes but I don't know how.

As you mentioned in the video there are more strategies/tips for CARS. Is there anywhere you can point us to that have them?

I didn’t really address that in the stream today. Personally I focus on trying to stay active as read the entire passage. Since I am always looking out for that important sentence that captures the paragraph’s purpose it helps me stay engaged even if I am not super interested in the overall topic. Thankfully most CARS passages are about the same length and anywhere from 450-600 words so I don’t have to sustain this focus for more than 3-4 minutes as I read the passage. I would build up your focus over time. Try to be really focused for a minute at a time then take a break from reading then go back and focus for a minute slowly increase this time until you are able to focus all the way throughout reading those boring passages. Hope that helps.

CARS definitely requires a lot of new skills which can make it seem super overwhelming. I always suggest working on one or two things at a time that way you don’t feel as though you want to kill yourself over the session lol.

I used to score 125-127 earlier, but have been scoring 123 on the past 2 official FL I’ve taken, so concerned especially that im testing very soon. 🥲 will try your tips!

I hope the tips help. In terms of timing I always suggest you figure out how to get stuff right first and identify what is messing up your timing. Do you spend too long on reading? Too long on a couple of questions here and there that totally throws your timing off? Too long on questions in general? Once you know why your timing is off you can start pinpointing the problem and working on it in separate timing specific sessions while you have other sessions to just work on getting correct answers without worrying about timing
