Fluid Painting Presents beloved elk
Acrylic cascades down the canvas to beloved elk's opening track from the Peace Offering album.
I met Amy and Tina of beloved elk in Apollo bay where they were playing a couple of gigs that Galloping Sheep had booked. Good times were had by all until the next morning.
Melbourne band beloved elk are making things happen with shows, an EP launch and then an album and playing live for RRR FM and being Unearthed by JJJ FM and now a Fluid Painting video.You can be friends with them here / belovedelkband and you can listen to another song by them here • Video and you can go to bandcamp here belovedelk.bandcamp.com/ and get an album. I've listened to Beehive more then 50 times just editing this video and it's still good.
After 10,000 views on my first video and 100 subscribers (thanks everyone) it's high time to release another Fluid Painting video clip. This is the first painting towards a gallery show at e55 Melbourne later in the year.
Up Coming videos include Making Lots of Paint and Live Interactive Painting Shows for Art Town. Apparently it's the only town that lets artists loose on their streets once a year.
I'd also like to thank Chromacryl, Cannon and Corel for helping make all this happen.

This is so cool. Thank you for posting it.
Watched it a few times.....love it! Wow, so many people out there on KZread that feel they have to comment on the music, speed and when you "should " have stopped. Call me old fashioned but criticism that isn't constructive is just mean spirited. Thanks for sharing your work

Thanks Doug, I just deleted a comment thread that was getting out of control. Criticism is fine but there's no need for people to be nasty. There may be one or two haters on here but there always is on successful videos, however you only need to look at the likes to see what people really think of the video
Lindo, maravilhoso...fenomenal..!
love!

catherin77 You can turn almost any good quality canvas with something not so appealing into something beautiful with some well-pigmented paints and a canvas that has something on it that you aren't happy with. Sometimes you can find professional quality canvases in thrift stores, garage sales, etc. that have a pic on them you don't care for, for far less than the canvas that size costs! (Just be SURE you aren't painting over a classic piece of art work that is a master's work, or similar (that could be sold for enough to buy a home with a studio in the back yard, and all the paint and canvas that you could use in a lifetime!) For teens and young people on a tight budget, this can be a great way to be able to make pictures you couldn't otherwise! If you sell a few of those, and put your money back into your artwork, then you can invest more in your art, and buy artists quality canvases, professional paints that are light-fast and that will last a very long time, mediums, etc.! That's a great way for teens to get started!
woow

friend, for me the rare abstract art very rare but it draws attention simply for that, I liked it. I want to recommend my favorite artists Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta Gabino amaya cacho and Pablo Picasso.

abstract art as it says there, is unique, it is different from reality, beginning I did not understand it but I have a girlfriend designer and I fell in love with this because it made me understand. I'm going to share this link with her, I'm sure she'll love it. I want to recommend my favorite artists Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta Gabino amaya cacho and Pablo Picasso.

I have mentioned this to other "teachers' on You Tube channels and hope that you understand my concern as well as they have. The music you love may not necessarily be the best background music for your class because we do not all like the same kind of music but we are at your channel to learn something as we are all interested. It's quite sad, actually, that I have had to mute so many channels due to the overpowering music. You painting and technique is really fun to watch.

dollydoll61 Because canvases sag when wet.
I was wondering how long did it take for it to dry? Looks like there was a lit if paint on the canvas. And did it crack? Love it though.
Question... how did you get the paint to move towards the middle? Was it the way you were pouring it? Was there any tilting happening after you poured each color?
@FluidPainting
7 жыл бұрын
With this one the canvas is laid flat with a spirit level and just the weight of the paint and fact the canvas stretches when wet is enough
wow!!! would this would with tempura paint for those of us can not afford massive amounts of artist acrylic?
@DrummerGrrrl

No. Tempura paint is too thin. You don't have to spend a ton for acrylic paint. Even cheap paint will work.

Just making sure to not drop any color.. so essentially cleaning the excess on the edge of the cap - you can see it clearly at 1:48 :)
I would like to see the result after it dried. I suspect the paint kept moving and the image changed a lot. Yes?

Abs Sabh Thank you Abs.
How do you get the paint to dry without cracking? Looks like it could be pretty thick by the time you get all the layers on it. Great job! I was afraid you were going to go into it after all the pouring and mess up that great effect!
@FluidPainting
9 жыл бұрын
I don't know because I've never had cracking but I would say try a different brand of paint if you get cracking. Paint colored with dye rather then pigments may be better but that's just a guess. On a flat level surface the wet paint will be about 3 to 5 mm. In this painting it would have been a few centimetres deep in the middle. I was tempted to go further with this painting but yeah usually it's better to stop once you have something you're happy with. Especially when it's time to go to bed. Thanks for your interest.
This is beautiful, acrylic paints? What mediums? Thank you ❤️
@FluidPainting

Yes acrylic with water. No mediums used
What about how the edges dry? Don't they have hard paint drips all along the bottom? Do you keep wiping them off for hours while the painting dries?
@davidpi2540

You wait til it gets tacky and carefully wipe the drips away.

It's been two years, Valerie. Did you do one yet? Did you get hooked after that ONE, and do a hundred or more? That's what happened to me. Been a year now, and my walls are covered with paintings! I give them away to my family and friends as xmas and bday gifts; I also keep the ones I love! (hence, the "wall covering" comment) Good Luck and Happy Pouring! P.S. If you never did get started and make a painting, don't start and you won't get hooked on it. It's harder to quit than cigarettes!!! No joke! I put it ALLLL away, and say NO! No more!, then find myself mixing up paint and searching for a "canvas" to pour on.....it's sad.... I even found myself _+ing" and pouring, "in private"...HAH! OMG...so sad.... pathetic, actually. ;D
I do a lot of acrylic pours like this, does anybody have any tips for speeding up the drying process?

FluidPainting Do you mix Flow Aid in with the acrylic? I'm just wondering how to get the acrylic to not crack when it dries thick. (This is so beautiful btw ... are they for sale?)
@FluidPainting
9 жыл бұрын
Bryn Diesel Hi Diesel, I just tried Form A Flow 600. It's a flow aid designed for holography. First I tried two drops and then a dash per shot glass of paint. I thought it might create some interesting effects but neither seemed to make a difference. I've never had cracking but someone else also reported cracking. Some brands probably aren't suitable for this technique would be my first guess unless you guys are painting on gyp rock or in extreme temperatures or something. Even if they don't crack at first it still can't be guaranteed that they'll still be good in a decade or two. Having said that however in April 2012 I tried both Art Culture and Chromacryl, both artworks and later works look perfectly fine and are still well bound to the canvas. If you want a guarantee beyond that you'll need to use fluid mediums instead of water. Yeah they are for sale on my website also most of the paintings in the videos are available.
at 1:19 I felt they all were staring at me.
