Fluid in brake booster... 2004-2008 f150 master cylinder replacement
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Over 23,000 miles I had to refill my 2004 F150 brake master cylinder twice, but saw no leaks. Turned out it was leaking out of the back of the master into the brake booster!

Nice job John glad to see your on Tube again
I have the same problem with a 2000 Intrepid my family still owns. I was curious if anyone else had this problem on you tube which brought me here to this Video. Funny thing I have that same Harbor Freight brake bleeder suction tool system. Thanks for reminding me. Great Video by the way. I rather watch something like this then a lot of the crap shown on TV these days. Thanks for making this video.
One of best video out there your the man of task thank you very much
Really great video. Thanks for the help.
Same here! 73 mark iv. Fluid level kept dropping and I couldn't find the leak. Then it started smoking out the exhaust! 🤘💯
nice - i just had this and know what to do now. Much appreciated.
Thanks for this beautiful video. God bless
Thank you very much for sharing you solved my problem I am having same problem with Ford expedition 2016

if that happened don't you have to replace the booster too?
how important is it to get all fluid out of booster ? ive only a hand evacuater / syphon that i know is leaving some fluid in bottom of booster , say probably a quarter inch .
I've got the same problem found my break booster brimming with oil inside if I dump out the oil would the brake booster work
How did you get the fluid out of the Break Booster?
Can fluid be sucked into the brake booster after a master cylinder replacement, if the brake booster is bad? ?
Thank you very helpful, nice job...
Just had same problem but a had a lot off brake fluid going to mi engine white smoke
You could have simply put the two plastic tubes into a second container filled with brake fluid. That's probably what was intended by the manufacturer of the master cylinder.

yes thats what i was yelling
I replaced the master cylinder than bleed it and than bleed the brakes, I installed new rotors and new brakes with the same old calipers and hoses. I see fluid when bleeding driver and passenger wheel, but when I drive I see smoke on the passenger side and the caliper is locked, I can hear the rubbing. What can be the problem and also what solution do you suggest? Thank you.
Had the same problem replace had to buy 3 different master becouse even remaufacure/new would still leak when bench bleed
My issue is the brakes slowly go to the floor no matter if I press them quickly or slowly. I checked the tube going to the booster and fluid is not going in. No gurgle and no fluid on/in the connector. Can the master cylinder still be bad and not leak into the booster? I have not noticed any leaks and loss of fluid. Thank you for this video.

Yes,the seals could be letting plunger push thru fluid instead of only against it.
How did you know it was the master cylinder and not just the rubber seals (on the pistons) that was the issue?
Great job. You could submerge those short tubes into separate bottle half filled with brake fluid. Would make it much easier and cleaner to bench bleed master.

Excellent idea. I only thought about having them exit back into the master.

Great idea. You see? Thats why they say that 2 heads think better than 1. I take off my hat to both of you. I just evacuated all the fluid from my booster, now I gotta think of how Im gonna clean out tje residue. I may have to remove it and wash it out with soapy water and let it dry for a few days. New ideas will be appreciated.

@@likits1999 never happened to wash one. Those I've done so far never developed a problem down the road. I would just replace it and only if it goes bad. Personally don't like idea of having water in booster as it's gonna be hard to dry it
Will that cause the brakes to lock up if you have a good amount of fluid in the booster?

I think yes
Did the fluid damage the booster internally? And how did you determine whether or not it did or did not? Nice video thanks.

I just got the fluid out and used it. Still works fine.
Will break fluid in the booster cause any problems ? Changed my master cylinder and noticed fluid in th booster please let me know

Brad Morgan yes there are rubber seals on the “plunger” in the booster, I always replace both when I come across this problem
There is a difference between some brake fluids. Dot 3 is for typical/normal driving/braking. Dot 4 is for heavier duty braking (like pulling a trailer, etc. and had a higher boiling point) and is comparable with Dot 3. Dot 5 is NOT compatible with Dot 3 and Dot 4. If Dot 5 is put into a Dot 3 or Dot 4 system it will eventually swell up the rubber seals and components and mess the brake system up big time! I hear Dot 5.1 is compatible with Dot 3 and Dot 4, but I don’t know much about Dot 5.1 .
Dude, you put the tubes in a cup of brake fluid and keep the reservoir full.......lololololol
Happened to me in my old 2004 truck. I lost brakes. Scary as shit. Leaked into the booster. So I never saw leakage.

Scary indeed
You sure do things the hard way don't you
OMG!
Just go get some longer vinyl tubes

Yup, my master bleeding was awful. Putting the short tubes in a small jar of DOT3 would have made it a lot easier and neater.
