There are to many belts , when you unify just make one belt with all the ibf wbc all that shit on one belt. And they should also make it to where once you have a belt you can only fight top 5 in your weight class. But that wont happen unless they create and actual league. I think Floyd and Top Rank and Showtime or HBO could make it happen. But they think there is more money in the old way. I disagree look at UFC how structured they are and how everybody gets paid. The problem is , in boxing the top fighters make like 95% of all the money vs the rest. In Ufc the top guys make less but every as a whole makes more. Boxings top fighters are too greedy for a league to every happen

Yes! What the hell is the point of a regular champ, silver champ, or a franchise champ. I say the actual belt and a interim to be the next challenger for that actual belt.

WBA started it. The wba demoted their long standing original title to (regular) soon as they introduced the elevated "super" title. The super titles were established at different time periods across the divisions Middleweight was the very first division to receive the new super title in 2001 hopkins vs Trinidad. Because the super title was then active, the original title which william joppy vs howard eastman became regular for the first time. There was a 10 year gap before super title was established at heavyweight. Haye vs Klitschko the first super bout at heavy in 2011. So from 2001 -2011, middleweight had 2 wba champs. Heavyweight had 1. ( original title) Post 2011 at heavyweight, the original title then becomes a demoted regular as the super is then in effect.

Thank you, what’s the point of being named champion in a division when there’s 500 other belts in that same division, it makes no sense. I’d rather just one definitive belt let alone FOUR.

ONE belt per weight class. Then even the Prima Donnas HAVE to fight one another if they want to be the champ.

It’s simple, TOO MANY weight divisions & TOO MANY sanctioning bodies (belts). There shouldn’t be 5 belts per division! It should be no more than 3; having just 1 belt isn’t realistic at this point. Also the 17! divisions should be consolidated down to 8. Heavyweight 200+ Cruiserweight 175 Middleweight 160 Welterweight 150 Lightweight 140 Featherweight 130 Bantamweight 120 Flyweight 110

@CH it's OK, many other combat sport like MMA have the same number of divisions, it make weight class change much harder but enough for the sport. You can see it real hard for a mma fighter to win belt in 2 different weight, unlike boxing they can easily win it at multiple divisions.

More belts equals inflation..it discredits those who are really great fighters and are true champions while others can call themselves the same title and not be good at all

There should be 1 belt per division, and they should remove the excess divisions. It should become more like the ufc

As an MMA fan I was trying to get into boxing once and I remember watching 4 fights with each fighter having 2+ belts in each corner. I was so confused so I didn't even bother watching! The sport is intriguing but why bother when you don't even know who the champion champion is. It just makes the fight lose value!

I thought this belts have always been there, especially in the H.W division we grew up knowing WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF. With WBC being the most coveted and WBO not being respected that much.. And then Mike Tyson started a collection campaign that unified most of them

Just so happened to check out Golden Boy boxers. They have like 15 champions and that tells me its like 20 or 30 other belts out there.

Floyd is right though too many great fighters out there with belts, factor out the Heavyweight class ..It’s hard to differentiate on who’s really the best pound for pound In the other weight classes.

I agree, but sadly a reduction won't happen because networks, fighters and fans still promote them. HBO tried not touting any bout as championship unless they were universally recognized as the man...when Lopez moves up/vacates 135 will be a real mess.

Mayweather got a point... This is a problem for a long time. More belts more MONEY for the sanctioning bodies, more CHAMPHIONSHIP fights w/c means more dough for PPV. Mayweather beating 22 world champ is not the same as Sugar Ray Robinson beating X amounts for champs. Back in the day, fighting a champion means you are fighting the man who beat everyone in his division.

wbc and wba are total scum bag organisations and there basically the reason the other organisations became major sanctioning bodies. The wbc are litterally calling multiple fighters the champion in the same division and constantly making new divisions to chuck belts on.

The WBA started the greed first. The truth is the wba (Regular) is the original wba world title. Which they demoted as a secondary title soon as the super became active in a respective division. There's too many belts and too many weight classes. Like in lower division. There's no really relative significant differences between the sizes of a Bantamweight and super Bantamweight. Minimum weight and flyweight and those super. Its ridiculous.

100% agreed. One belt, one champion. That's one thing I like about the UFC. It would drive up competition, and give us more great fights, because it would work against any fighter that tried that ducking and marinating bullshit. If fighters want to earn the big bucks, they would be forced to seek becoming the champion.

What wasn’t good for boxing is cherry picking fights, hyping them up and disappointing fans with boring fights. Yea, boxing is about hitting and not getting hit but the glory lies in entertaining the FANS instead of just doing enough to win the end of the rounds. the greats take the biggest risk to prove they are the best and doesn’t make excuse of making a “smart” move to not get hit, if that’s the case, anyone who’s never boxed are the greatest boxers for “being smart” for not risking their health to entertain fans by not getting hit.

The problem is that the organisations are insentivised to not let one fighter get all the belts because then they'd lose alot of there leverage for getting fees. Shit the wbc out here giving belts to 2 different fighters in the same division for no reason like why.

Get rid of all the unnecessary extra WBA belts, WBC “franchise” BS and the whole WBO belt.

Absolutely correct, one belt for one fighter in each division. This would be good for fighters, less chance of brain damage. Fighter purse would be increased, fans would get to see the fights they want to see.

He is exactly right. There's no such thing as an actual World Champion in our days cus a lot of boxers are World Champions. They need to do something to unify all belts and bring in a new World Championship Belt (that doesn't look ugly and actually looks prestigious) and establish this new belt as the definitive World Championship.

Back in 2005 watching our local TV News in Arkansas and it was about the pee wee football league and at the end of the game they were giving out trophies to the MVP and the dad on the sidelines was really mad because everybody on their team got the same trophy..... . And I believe in some sports that was the beginning of not leaving players out. ... So they ruined the coach's strategy for telling his players are not playing well in their minds but they are playing awesome .......So the deal is you will not get the full potential out of your players so the strategy he is ruin ✌🏽
