Flower Arranging With Color Theory! 🌈 :: Cut Flower Garden and Bouquet Making Basics!

“Gardening is learning, learning, learning. That’s the fun of it. You’re always learning.” -Helen Mirren
Welcome! Join me today as I take on flower arranging with color theory in mind! Usually I like to just go out into the cut flower garden and grab whatever I think is beautiful. Today, I am going to try to follow some color schemes to work on learning the “basics” of flower arranging! 💐 Enjoy!

I love the arrangements. Monochrome is my favorite. I admire that you are making the effort to learn different types of arrangements. You could consider the lime zinnias as a greenery. When I was a florist I always started with three different textures of greenery. It creates your frog. Before I added flowers it had to look beautiful with just the greenery. Then you add the flowers. I hope you have a wonderful day. I can’t wait to see the fence.

Hi Janie lynne here. I will say, a flower doesn’t have to be colourful to be a focal flower. It can be determined by size and texture also. You’re doing a great job. Enjoy 🌼

Watching Danielle from Northlawn Flower Farm she harvests in the evening letting them rest overnight in the house. Sometimes in the refrigerator. Then arranges the next morning. Love the Snow on the Mountain which are blooming now. I liked all three arrangements.

Try cutting your Snow on the Mountain a couple days early and let them get beyond the wilt before arranging. (?) Just guessing.

I love that snow on the mountain euphorbia. I was out walking the dogs by the lake and plant id that plant. It was just growing wild all around. Not in an invasive way just dotted around. It was soo beautiful! Must be a KS native. I’m excited to see what you do at the flower field. I’m seriously considering doing a cut flower field at our family farm land. So much fun!!

The handout is wonderful, thank you. And the fact that you showed examples is even better! I put a few ice cubes in the water when the flowers wilt. It seems to help perk them up a bit!! I've also put them in an air-conditioned room or in the refrigerator if they are really wilting from the heat.

Love seeing all the different types of bouquets! Snow on the mountain is my FAVORITE. I love learning from Flower Moxie for flower arrangements. She’s got great tips as she goes talking about placement and not putting too much on the same plane for added interest. (She’s also extremely witty and funny)
