“Flour & Cream of Wheat PARSAD”Trinidad style Diwali Delight

The Diwali Parsad, a traditional offering, is a delightful blend of flour and cream of wheat, prepared on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. This sacred dish is meticulously crafted with aromatic ingredients, sweetened to perfection, and holds a significant place in the celebrations, symbolizing blessings and abundance.
Hindus use Tulsi leaves for their sacred significance in Hindu mythology and medicinal properties. Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, holds spiritual importance and is revered for its healing properties, being considered a symbol of purity and devotion in Hindu culture.
*Ingredients:*
- 1 cup all-purpose flour( sifted)
- 1/4 cup cream of wheat (not instant, 2.5 minutes)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/4 tsp cardamom (optional)
- 1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds (optional)
- 1/2 cup ghee or sweet pure butter
*Instructions:*
1. Heat 1/2 cup of ghee in a pan until warm, then add the sifted all-purpose flour. Stir continuously until it turns a medium golden brown.
2. Once it reaches the desired color, add the cream of wheat, continuing to stir on medium heat until a golden brown color is achieved.
3. Boil 2 cups of water separately. Add 1/2 cup of evaporated milk to the boiling water. Once boiling, add 3/4 cup sugar, ensuring it dissolves.
4. Add ginger and optional ingredients like cardamom and slivered almonds to the flour mixture or to the liquid
5. Turn off the heat from the liquid , then slowly add it to the flour and cream of wheat mixture while stirring continuously over medium heat until it reaches a nice golden brown color.
6. Garnish the prepared Parsad with a Tulsi leaf.
Ensure to keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps and achieve a smooth texture. Adjust sweetness or additional ingredients according to taste preferences.

Happy Diwali Sara. Your Cream Of Wheat parsad looks absolutely delicious. I can only imagine the taste, with cardamom added.🤤 My mother used to make cream of wheat parsad. I’ve tried making parsad when I was a young adult… it was a disaster, never tried again. You make it look like a breeze to make. Keep up the good work. I love your lovely little chihuahua. God’s blessings to you.🙏🏽❤️
