    I agree that the initial cost is expensive for a lot of big projects. But if you divide all the hours into the cost. X stitch can be pretty inexpensive entertainment.

    Yes, absolutely good value for the time I get to spend enjoying it. Cheaper than some hobbies for sure. I actually spent more money when I was papercrafting; stamps, colouring pens and metal dies are very expensive!

    It's lovely to catch up with you again Kat, although I'm a little late to the party but better late than never I say! 🤣 I love, love, love your new tablet cover and the fabric you've chosen for your Bella mermaid is definitely the perfect choice. She will undoubtedly look stunning! I was recently watching Teresa Little Stitcher's video that she filmed at the first Bella Filipina retreat back in May which looked really wonderful. Ooooh, so many beauties on the finishing table! I know I am just going to have to stitch at least one Bella, Mira or Nora at some point as I've been eyeing them up for sooo long and pretty much all the FlossTubers I watch have several on the go. I am very easily enabled so how I have not succumbed so far really is quite amazing! 😂 Yes please to a demo of how you finished your hoop project. I have several circular patterns that I want to stitch and frame in a hoop so it would be really helpful to see how you did it. Happy stitching Kat! 😀🪡🧵Nessa

    The chameleon is GORGEOUS! (And the back is neat enough to frame it that way, too! No need to be modest about it... 😉) That blue watermarked fabric you chose for the mermaid design is beautiful. Perfect for the design (I think the original pink was a bit overbearing). Please do more unwrapping clips - it felt like Christmas! And at my age, birthday presents are dwindling in quantity, so I need the vicarious gift-opening. 😂

    😊I don’t blame you for wanting to break up back ground with back stitching. I learned something about myself. If I leave back stitches to last I will procrastinate and it will take me forever to finish. My Santa’s secret on 7/17/23 and I just finished it 9/7/23. 😂 only had 2 days of stitches to days. Love the dragon 🐉 the colors are gorgeous! Omg that’s too funny what you made for husband. I love it! Yup you need some Halloween needle minders . Yes show your back lacing. 😊

    Backstitch is such a funny thing for me; I don't mind doing it yet always put it off...like you I can really procrastinate on it 😂 But once I start it, I'm usually ok and can then fly through it because I see how good it makes the design look. Thanks for letting me know you'd like to see the back lacing 😃 I may have solved my lack of Halloween needle minders today 🤪😂

    @@catkinandlillie you must show the needle minders lol 😂 I have started collecting those things. Lol 😂 second thoughts hide 🙈 them from me! The same for me on the back stitch, I can fly through them and don’t mind it once I get started on it. It’s just the starting. It’s surprising how big of a needle minder you can actually use on stitch in hand. Have you tried those magnetic ties (used for your loose wires like for computers)? I use them on big projects like my Nantucket Girls song. It was a half yard of fabric. I rolled it up similar to how I would on a scroll frame. Then used 4 on each side. Lol in a pinch they work as needle minders too. Very strong magnets too. Right now I am trying to finish off my time traveler by Joan Elliot. I’m about 3/4ths done. I also have that same mermaid in my stash. The only dragon head I have was the one that came in markup Xrp stitch. I too prefer pattern keeper but it’s not as easy to use for a working copy of my printed pattern. I just scan with my printer each page. Now this doesn’t work as good as the artist pdfs. But it does allow me to use my tablet and keep count of my stitches. 😂 and with 60 yr old eyes it lets me blow my pattern up to where it’s easier to see. Keep producing your floss tubes I really appreciate and enjoy them. I watch while stitching

    I laughed when I saw the dragon head in Markup RXP...it looks pretty nice but I think I'll stick with my one ...for now 😂 I am very much looking forward to being able to use mord pdfs and even paper patterns in Markup RXP too. I have some of the magnet ties but mine were a bit rubbish and I don't think the magnets were all that good. Might have to try some different ones as they do look handy. Can't wait for my needle minders to arrive and I will be sharing them...sorry if I'm going to be a naughty enabler 😂 I am so enjoying making the videos and making new friends...it's like I'm chatting to friends when I sit down to do the videos now 😄 I love to watch flosstube while I stitch; the only problem is there are too many fab ones to watch!

    Love your chamelion and the fabric you chose for the Bella Filapina, personally I am with you with the blueish fabric rather than the pink. May I ask why you use floss drops rather than floss cards? And also do you know if there is a metallic thread finer than Kreinik please.

  • @catkinandlillie

    @catkinandlillie

    11 ай бұрын

    I presume by floss cards you mean the ones with multiple holes punched down one or both sides for the threads? If so, then I do use those if they are provided in a kit, but for anything else I use floss drops. The reason I prefer them is that I find my thread gets less tangled, and that it's easier to take off threads/strands when I need to. For metallic thread, Kreinik comes in 2 weights; the number 8 is thicker than number 4. I also like Treasure Braid and the Petite Treasure Braid is the finest version of that, but is the same weight as Kreinik number 4 braid. The only thing I think is finer is Kreinik blending filament which is super thin and not designed to be stitched with on it's own...although I'm pretty sure you could!

  • @elizabethmurray4821

    @elizabethmurray4821

    I meant the type of floss cards (or that is what we call them in Australia) you wind around, I find I can store more of them in a floss box when I have a large number of threads in a cross piece. Thank you for that information about metallic threads, I was wanting to use it with a blackwork piece. Maybe Petite Treasure Braid might be the go. Am really enjoying your floss tube, it gives me a lot to think about.💓

  • @catkinandlillie

    @catkinandlillie

    Ah...ok, I would call them bobbins! They are definitely good for storage but the reason I don't like them is that they make the thread all kinky! I know it doesn't really matter but it just upsets me 😂 I also find it easier to take the threads/strands that I need off of drops rather than bobbins, and to store the small pieces of partially used thread, so I find them more practical.
