    Congratulations on 6k subscribers! And seeing how that cute little fox is coming together. Would love to hear you talk through your thought process in designing one day (I can't imagine trying to decide the colours in those blended threads but the end result will be amazing :D). And lovely seeing your progress on everything. Your telescope SAL was cheeky giving you extra black symbols to stitch!

    Thank you 😊 My design process is pretty meandering 😂 But I could definitely talk about it sometime. I tend to overthink... especially picking colours, and I test lots of options to try to really nail it down. I'm excited the fox is nearly done...looking forward to seeing how it looks with backstitch!

    I use the high pile felt bead mats so that I can use my bead scoop to easily round them up & put them back in my containers. The sticky ones make it harder to get the leftovers back where they get stored.

  • @catkinandlillie
    @catkinandlillie3 күн бұрын

    That sounds like a great system. It is a little trickier to get the beads off the mat so I try not to put too many on at once, but I haven't found it too hard to pick up the leftovers.... fortunately!

    You're welcome! I don't have a tutorial on attaching beads...yet! Although the one I had planned wasn't going to cover different types of beads but I can look at adding that!

  • @elizabethkrafnick5466
    @elizabethkrafnick54665 күн бұрын

    I also have a tacky bill. My question is how do you easily get the beads off to get ready for the next project? Also, I probably used a different brand of invisible thread (maybe I’ll try yours like I tried the historical sampler company😂). but it was AWFUL to work with. It was stiff and would not let me work one bead at a time and I had a terrible time just anchoring it to start. I was so frustrated I went to normal Dmc and was ok with the look. Should I try again with your thread? Is it soft to work with?

  • @catkinandlillie
    @catkinandlillie4 күн бұрын

    That's a great question about getting the beads off the Tacky Bill! I try not to tip too many on at a time and just keep adding a few more as I go. Then at the end it's possible to just grab them off the mat with my fingers/fingernails...definitely helps if you have at least a little bit of fingernail to pop them off the mat! I haven't tried any other invisible threads to compare but the YLI brand seems very soft to me, and not at all stiff. It is a little springy but that doesn't cause me any problems. It is still tricky to anchor as it's so slippery so I usually run it under lots of threads and go back on myself and even make tiny loops through a stitch in multiple areas to get it secure...and same at the end. I'll definitely show this when I do my video on how to attach beads. I would say that other than the anchoring, it wasn't especially hard to work with, although i also recommend using short lengths.

    Great video, Kat. 👍 I've never used beads in cross-stitching. It looks a little fiddly for me - I struggle enough with french knots!

  • @catkinandlillie
    @catkinandlillie4 күн бұрын

    Thank you 😊 Yeah, I can't say it's not a wee bit fiddly, but I also found it quite satisfying! And it depends how you attach the beads as there's an easier and a more complicated way depending on how you want the beads to sit. I know a lot of stitchers use beads instead of French knots as they find them easier!

    Liked the tip about the black background, i used to make a lot of beaded jewellery and i tried the invisible thread once! I used to use the Nimo( i think thats the one lol) thread in many different colours. I liked the larger needle as it went further of course and they lasted ages even if they were a bit curved lol. The bead container is good if you need the beads for cross stitch only. I'm still left mith millions of them lol. I used to use a felt mat, the sticky bobs weren't around when i started, i believe i've heard that they can be cleaned and be revived. Great video👍😃

  • @catkinandlillie
    @catkinandlillie4 күн бұрын

    Thank you; so glad you enjoyed this and the tips I shared 😊 I can well imagine you would have a lot of beads from making jewellery! A felt mat is a great alternative to a sticky mat...I just know I'd still knock them everywhere though 😂 Nymo is a fab alternative to invisible if you don't mind choosing a colour; I know a lot of cross stitchers use this and like it.

    Most pharmacy's have a sharps bin and will let you pop your needles in there if you ask them nicely. I use an old pill bottle with a safety cap to collect mine in until I can rid of them.

    Thank you, and it makes my day to hear you are enjoying my videos...and that I could explain floss drops for you. But yes, they do need a bit more space for storage and bobbins are so lovely and compact. I am sure I've seen some floss drops that are bobbin shaped so you can attach the thread like on a floss drop but then wind the thread round the body of the bobbin shaped floss drop for storage. I have no idea where though, or if I've just imagined that 😂
