    Glad it was helpful! I want to let you know that since I made this video on Knit companion there have been much better apps released to use for cross stitch. you may want to check out Pattern Keeper and MarkUp R-XP. they are specifically made for cross stitch and put your chart together as 1 big chart.

    Two years later and this instructional video was amazing! Thank you so much. Purchased Knit Companion based on your video and followed you every step of the way. Magic! There appears to be an update to ease the alignment. After cropping and following the next step where everything turns yellow (in my case it turned red), if you tap the little 'magic wand' it miraculously aligns everything. Was able to convert a 20 page chart into one in a matter of 15 minutes. Thank you again!

    A massive thank you to you as well as Jan. I have just bought this today, and I am loving it. I've even managed to figure out how to do a custom key, and rename the pages (which is super helpful going forward to aligning them). I just paid for my set up and essentials straight off after both of your videos. I owe you such a personal debt, because I have nailed diagonal stitching and now have this tool. Hugs x

And then I saw it all on one page and I just about died OMG so Awesome. I watched Jan Hick who (no offence) sort of confused me but this was EXACTLY what I needed to get me past my fears. I'm going to sit in front of TV tonight and transfer my two SSMCs and my regular over. You brought me into diagonal, into goodreader, and now another life changing discovery. I was laughing because my first question is how do you put your HAED into knit companion? You need to glue your iPad to your table, lol it keeps moving to the left and I was trying to move it to the right with my mouse duh.... too funny. I broke my arm on Jan. 29 and I had surgery for a plate February 14 so I understand your frustration. Best wishes and thank you so much. I am buying the app today. I never used the parking method or the diagonal, this app will be so helpful.

    Hi Karen, I have been using Knit Companion for a while now with my cross stitch. I am in the Diagonal Facebook group as Brekke Wyrenth. I have some tips and tricks I'd like to share with you that expand on the usage of the program. They cover how to grid when you scan in a pattern, how to grid with a skewed photo of a pattern, and some tips for a large HAED. Would it be okay if I forwarded the emails I shared with Jan? One tip I think you could use in your tutorials is that when you are setting up the grid and you need to adjust one little bit, you can tap next to the purple border on either side and it will move just a hair. This way you will minimize the errors you make while dragging. This is an excellent video. Thanks for sharing.

    This is completely new to me. I've been cross stitching for years but have always used physical patterns by scanning them into my laptop and printing them out. The tutorial is great and I'm certainly going to give it a try. I'm just wondering what the diagonal lines that you put in yellow are for? Thanks very much.

  • @NeedleBugg

    @NeedleBugg

    Linden. There are now much better apps for marking off your charts. Pattern Keeper - which is an android only app. And Markup-R-XP. Which is both android and iOS. They are both really good. The yellow diagonal lines are for stitching diagonally. Meaning stitching line by line. 10 stitches wide down the chart. Each row you start one stitch to the left and end one stitch less on the right. So you end up with a diagonal line. There are videos on my channel just search diagonal stitching

    I have come up with another question on this. Seems for me, when I’m aligning pages, once I get to another row, they don’t look like they line up right and I’m left guessing. I’ve got about 20 pages in each time, and one doesn’t line up right and I’m left starting from the beginning. So, is there a way to out say 5 pages together to start with diagonal work, and when you get to a point of needing more pages, just put them in? Or does it erase everything when you do that?

  • @NeedleBugg

    @NeedleBugg

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sadie Shaw it will erase evening if you try and add pages later. I just found out if you added a page and saved it and it didn’t line up correctly you can recoup that same page and add it again lining it up and it will overwrite the one that was wrong. So you don’t need to start over. Just redo the page. Be sure when cropping you make your page really big and use the grid to line things up. After you click on align sometime it does look a bit wonky and you can’t get it perfect. But when you click on save it does line up the way it should. At least it did for me. Hope that helps

It simply indicates that the company is monitoring android upgrades for future compatibility. What that means is I can still use edit but not settings.

    FYI - I am not able to concatenate or set up custom markers. The free version has a sliding highlighter which will not generate diagonal highlights. It does not allow you to tap a single stitch to highlight nor to have multiple highlights. It is not a program that will be useful to me on the Android, although, if the company does make Essentials available, I would love to retry. It does look to do all the things for the Ipad.

    Barbara Hosford i havent used knit companion in a while. Since Pattern Keeper. However if i remember correctly. You can just redo the page you had off by 1 row and rejoin it over the incorrect on. When you place it to join. Put it on top of the one that is wrong. That should work.
