I found your channel when surfing cross stitch videos on youtube. I saw that you were doing a stitch along video, and I enjoy stitching along while listening to other stitchers, while they are stitching and talking, that gives me my motivation to stitch. The rest is history.

I love to just watch you stitch, I love the process of stitching, and watching you do parking on a diagonal is just pure joy. So glad I will get to see more of these videos in the future 😍 Thank you for doing the pinstitch on one over one, never figured how to do it 🙈 could you talk and show some good ways to start and stop a thread when you stitch one over one, and not having to turn your project 😊

I like watching you stitch and I’m enlightened by your stitching advice. I have a 10” x 10” HAED pattern for a full coverage piece all kitted up and ready to go. It’s been that way for over two years and I’m just not confident to start it. But after watching you today I think I’m going to get my act together and start that thing!

Hi! I first was on Facebook and saw someone stitching diagonally. I just started parking and getting a very visible line between my first column and my second, I tried to feather my edges and now I got a staggered line. She mentionned you with a few other flosstubers and checked out that first video you made, then the second you did about starting a new HAED with diagonal stitching. I subscribed then. You have a soothing voice and you sound relaxed :) you have a good way of showing your stitchy ways and love those tips (braiding with the Pako-which I got after seeing you pull one strand out of the whole skein)

My method for not starting new projects is to join the Facebook group that inevitably starts for the hot new design. After seeing everyone stitching the project for about a month, I find I have lost my desire to rush into a start! If not, I kit up the project. Like you, I have many large projects underway and I am a few years older than you so I make an effort to work on wips not new starts. Good luck! I look forward to following your progress.

I came across your channel by searching stitch with me cross stitch and even though there was not much of stitching love it because got to learn about the mechanical chalk pencils. How do you keep track of which color is the threads you have parked? The best thing that works for me not to start something new is by taking a picture of it or put it in a wish list and grab the closest wip to me and stitch. Now, this has not worked 100 percent of the time but has stopped me from buying more patterns, starting tons of new project and saving money for those designs I truly love. Wish you a great weekend and thank you for the tips shared in your video.

I'm new to this channel, but I love to watch the stitching (: I don't get chances to relax much, and it's fun to sit and stitch with you when I get some free time outside of my university work! Thanks for all of your tips as well; I think they've helped me a lot, since I just recently started stitching in my downtime.

I just found your videos and am watching them all from the beginning. Such a wealth of information! Like on the one where you were talking about fuzzy threads, it was like you read my mind cuz I had just been wondering what I could do to keep them from going fuzzy, and you said to use a larger needle. I immediately sized up. I haven't noticed much change because I'm still using 'old' threads that have been used, parked, tied off, and put back on the bobbin at least once. BUT my stitches are just a tad neater! And as for resisting that 'itch' to start new things, I have a few ideas. Don't online window shop unless you are looking for something specific. If you see something someone has done, that you really like, ask yourself "would I put that on my wall, or would someone I REALLY love put it on their wall?" if the answer is no, keep scrolling. Resist the sale, This one is especially hard for me. But really, if I didn't need it a week ago, I won't need it a week from now, and I can let the store keep it. And finally, budget. Even if you're richer than Rockefeller, give yourself a budget for stitchy stuff. I have this problem with ebooks. Amazon is great at suggesting them to me, and with that one click ordering, I can get in trouble. So I set up an 'allowance' for my amazon gift card and I can only buy that much. I let it roll over if I haven't used it all, so sometimes I can buy a more expensive book without spending any more than I have budgeted for. Or, you could take the approach that those wips served you well by bringing you joy while you worked on them, that the supplies weren't wasted since that is what they are for. The only wasted supply is one that isn't used. Hope that helps, even though this video was made in january, an its now october. I don't think this problem ever really truly goes away though.

I found your channel recently by mention of you from another flosstuber. Unfortunately I can’t remember who but I so enjoy your videos. I’m planning a HAED (I purchased 3!) and I was looking for ways to stitch and to park or not to park. I joined the challenge group on Facebook this month though I probably won’t start that project as I need to kit it up as well as get further with what I have on the go. I totally understand how you want to stitch a project and then find that you’re itching for another! So for me I keep putting off the HAED for now. I want to rotate but find I keep continuing on one. Oh well stitch what we want when we want may be the best in the end! Your projects are gorgeous! Thanks for all you share!

Karen, I found your channel when I was looking for info on parking. I am a convert to stitching on the diagonal. I have enjoyed my full coverage pieces so much more with your method, and I feel like it is faster than cross country because I spend so much less time staring at and marking the chart instead of stitching. I stayed at your channel because listening to you reminds me of my favorite aunt. She was in the Newburgh area, was a teacher, and she and I discovered cross stitch at the same time in 1982. Our letters to each other describing the wonderful new hobby actually crossed in the mail. I spent many vacations at her house stitching with her. I can't help you with the don't start the new project problem. I have a rotation and work on 2 or three different projects every day.

I originally came to your channel for the diagonal tutorial. I’m fascinated with the way you stitch. I found the best way for me to stitch is a hybrid of cross country and parking in a 10 x10 block on the diagonal. I feel your pain with having to start projects. I’m a serial starter myself. I found that I wasn’t completing very much so I’m really concentrating on finishing one project at a time. With my bigger projects and haeds I make sure I at least finish an entire page before I move on. We’ll see how long this lasts! Lol good luck to you!

Hi Karen, I found your channel because I was interested in the diagonal stitching. I had to laugh, when you were describing your itch, i do exactly the same thing, even down to cutting the fabric. I recently went through my wips and donated those pieces that no longer appealed to my local op shop, started or not. Someone else can benefit. I have also gone back to my first love, Haed full coverage. I currently have 3 on the go, and i work on one each week. If i want a new start, i will start another haed, i only do minis as the bigger ones intimadate me with the amount of pages, i will not be starting a new haed now until i have a page finish on one of my current projects

Hi Karen! We are both doing some of the fun challenges in Stitchtalk. After the 12 Days of HAED, I had 11 new starts and a new page start. I have put my charts into Tiny Decisionmaker, and I will spin it’s wheel on some timeframe - not daily, but maybe monthly- and spend some time stitching on that chosen chart as well as my 100 day piece and my Around the World piece. Maybe something like that would help you find enjoyment out of those older started projects. Thanks so much for showing your stitching and passing on such great tips. See you next time!

Look forward to your next video😊

Thank you for this video. I can't help you with your itch. I ended last year with only 1 WIP and I now have 3. I noticed that when you started I saw most of the parked threads on the next row. During my parking the threads are all over the block. Am I doing something wrong or is it how a pattern with confetti works? I am still struggling with the pinstitch 2 over 1 (aida).

Irene B you are not doing anything wrong. In the video I was in an area that only used a few colors . There are times I can have many threads parked all over the block. Especially When there is a lot of confetti. Would love to help you with your pinstich issue. What is it that you are still having problems with.

I just started my first cross stitch this week. Built the courage after yrs of diamond paintings. It was an amazon kit i got for very cheap. Ive noticed the thread is different widths throughout a single strand which makes it look very messy. I want to invest time in a quality piece after ive had time to practice on this. What type of thread do u use? What type of fabric is this and what is the count? I like the look of single thread, its so clean looking. You do beautiful work.

Do they are on my wish list and there they will stay till I've got my current piece done. If I stop working on it I will never finish it

Hi Karen As you requested I would like to talk about startitis. I do not really suffer from this and your video made me question myself as to why that is so. So here goes. Firstly if your current stitching is going through a bit of an unsatisfying phase then startitis can hit and hit bad. So the first thing to look at are the common sense things like are you a bit tired or stressed about something. Go take a nap or a walk in the fresh air. Phone a friend just for a comfy chat or do whatever helps you take care of yourself. Repeat over the next week or so. Just however long it takes. Secondly, just never set deadlines. Even sesible ones lke you would like to see Stitchers'Retreat on your walls some time. Deadlines kill stitching satisfaction fast. Instead tell yourself that it is a hobby to be enjoyed. Go slowly lovingly forming and enjoying each sweet stitch. Feed of that sweet smooth motion of stitching. Quietly. Silently. Let your thoughts wander. Your satisfaction will grow. Fourthly. Put your current work aside. Spend time reorganising your workspace. Revel in it. Take time to fondle and enjoy older completed projects that are not yet framed. Have fun. Hope these tps help. I have only discovered you fairly recently. But love your channel. I keep coming back because your videos have given me really useful tips. You are quietly and kindly spoken. You do big meaty projects. Our lives have in some ways followed similar paths. Similar ages. I was born in 1953. I trained as a nurse. I retired last year. Stitching has been a passionate interest for me all my life. Hope these comments help. And thanks for all you do.

Stitchflow thank you! Great advice! Yes our lives certainly have taken similar paths. And since my retirement stitching has become my life, my passion. I am so glad you found my channel and enjoy my videos. I feel it important to keep this art alive and share the things i have learned over the years. If i can increase someones joy in stitching that makes me happy. Then i have done what i was meant to do. Thank you for all your kind words. It is all the positives feedback that keeps me going in this video venture. Happy stitching!!
