Imlove the Shimano Curado! I have 3 of them and they are built to last and perform at a high level. I have a Quantum Smoke 150. It is fine as well. Carrot Stix are good but you may wan to try a rod that will last as long as the Curado.

I was useing a Shimano Saros 3000 w/20# Suffix 832 braid on a Carrot Stix 6-7" MH. The baitcaster was a Shimano Curado 200e7 on a 7-6" Carrot Stix Black Wild Heavy with 40# suffix 832 braid.. I broke that rod and then went to a Shimano Cumara 7-2" MH rod.

I like a baitcast better, but sometimes a spinning reel is the better tool. Like walking the dog, spinning is better for me. Worm fishing, a baitcast is better. Just depends on the scenario and structure in the area i'am in. Good question.

Thats a hard question to answer, there are just so many rods and reels for sale. I would suggest going to Bass Pro Shops or some big outfit and putting your hands on some outfits and just get the one that feels right to you. I will say this.....I would not buy a cheap reel no matter what.

Ain't to shabby living in a state where you can fish 330+ days a year and have shots at big fish. Let's keep it a secret so the lakes don't get too crowded :0)
